Forums - Nintendo - Happy Birthday Wii!!!11! and stuff

I picked up my first Wii on release day. I will never forget the memory. It was excellent. My girlfriend and I camped out for almost 3 days as excited and giddy as we could be.

The system gets at least one hour a day of play time to this day and is still as much a blast to play as the day we got it.

Now we have two consoles because one was not good enough (actually it is because we wanted to play import games...) and our lives are all the richer for it.

Happy birthday American Nintendo Wii. Thank you for all the wonderous joy you have provided over the past three years!

I waited in line 22 hours for my Wii. I was number 6 in line and I got the Wii, and Zelda on 8:00 am at a Target. I was so happy to finally be playing Zelda!

Me getting my Wii was a nightmare, first EBGames required you to trade in your GameCube or pay for the console in full to pre-order. So I grabbed my GameCube and was third in line to pre-order. I camped out all night. But it was some good times it was the same day they were accepting pre-orders for the PS3, so half of us were sitting in one side playing DS while the other half sat on the otherside playing PSP. Anyways everyone bought hot chocolate or coffee for everyone else at Tim Hortons at least once. I remember sitting and suddenly this guy came up and gave me a hot chocolate, I was like "Thanks" and he's like "Its your turn next" lol So I spent over 30$ buying everyone in line hot chocolate.

But then as launch day approached a friend of mine said EBGames wasn't going to hold our pre-orders passed 9:30. That we had to be their when the store openned. He told me that the night before the Wii launched. So at about 7 we both went and lined up again this time It snowed. Again lots of Tim Hortons and waiting. Great memories playing the DS all night with the other fanboys. Chilling with gamers, sure it was cold but that was okay.

Then at 9 they openned the doors and I flew into EBGames. I bought my Wii and my copy of TP and ran home to play. I played TP till about 2 in the afternoon before I had to go to sleep. Great day I was so exited, I just got annoyed when I found out I didn't have to camp out a second time. So in the end I camped out for my Wii twice making it double the anticipation.

lol, that acutally sounds like it was pretty fun, joelcool. also, i would never trade in my GC to preorder the Wii.. I would much rather pay for the console in full at that moment. my GC was a launch day GC and there is no way i could part with it.

lol at the split between Nintendo and Sony fans playing their respective portables.
