wow
I'm glad I use WindowsXP
I LOVE ICELAND!

Im currently running Dragonage on my PC (tri-boot xp, gentoo, win7). Having installed the game on both XP and Win7, Im getting about 7% higher FPS in XP (which isnt a surprise). Can try out vista later, but from my own xp vista is about 20%ish below XP.

then you lose the app pinning feature...

What am I missing? It's already been proven that Vista actually runs games better with higher FPS, why should I keep this OS and not go back to Vista Ultimate? |
Well, besides the better layout, my games actually run better in Windows 7, in fact everything runs faster, and the desktop is much easier to navigate. Finally, the OS will be more optimized as the SPs are released while Vista is already optimized.
I have no idea why ANYONE would go back to vista from 7, it's like going back to the Xbox from the Xbox 360.
The current gaming upgrade isn't that big now though. MS isn't pushing gaming like they use to.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
Windows 7 in my opinion is a vast improvement. To be as mature as it is without any SP's is pretty impressive. It aint to mac osx but as windows goes I love it.
Everyone I have spoken to that has switched has stated that 7 performs better than vista and we are all tech geeks so I trust them. That said, I still have no reason to switch from XP.
What I would give to make all games compatible and run at full frame rates on Linux... Windows and MAC have to go away to bring back innovation.

u making sound like it's huge improvement. but true, but going from 7 to XP brings also a FPS 3-5 improvement. :p

I find that if you turn off the service Themes you can gain back the lost FPS compared to XP. This is different from just switching to classic view as it actually turns off the Themes.
I actually really dig W7 even as a mostly full time Mac user. I left Windows for everything but gaming around the Vista debacle and never looked back. But now using Windows is actually fairly enjoyable which is great for me and everybody else in our Windows-centric world. I still use XP on my gaming rig for all by my DX10 games, but frankly that is more out of laziness not wanting to repartition my drive. Point is W7 is miles ahead of Vista in pretty much any way I can tell.

If you have a 64-bit machine and a 64 bit version of 7, there's even bigger increase as it can utilize up to almost 8 gigs of ram.
