Yes they will. There is no reason or evidence that Sony is about to claim bankruptcy.

You do realize the Japanese government is already up to it's ears in debt?
Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Just as Sony had plenty of time to move away from CRTs, but they only did so when it was obvious that they were getting killed on TVs (at which point they had to outsource LCD panel production).
They also had plenty of time to make a decent portable music player not based on CDs, but they didn't, with other companies beating them in the process.
They also fell behind on phones with Sony-Ericsson.
I'm not saying Sony f'ed up their strategy as much as those companies did, but it has had its fair share of big mistakes too. They went from being the top name in consumer-grade electronics, to being just another good electronics company among many.

Yeah, countries with massive debts don't bail out companies. Oh, wait...

A good question would be why are Sony expanding so much in certain areas and spending so much money on new product lines. |
1- Which areas are they expanding a lot in?
2- Spending money on new product lines is a given... if they didn't do so they might as well file for bankruptcy immediately. No one survives in the electronics world without creating new product lines.

Sony could always sell Columbia pictures or some of their other assets if they stay in financial trouble too long.

The problem with selling assets these days is that there are few buyers. Assets will most likely be sold at substantial losses.

They are still losing money on every PS3 slim sold, that's not good. Make it out of the recession? Sure. If of course things don't get worse. I'm talking after holidays and more lay-offs begin again. Either way I don't think they wil be the same company they were before but something very big would have to happen for them to just die.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

America does, I believe our national debt is around $12T. I think Japan reported earlier this year their national debt was 860.25T yen, which comes to about $9.5T.
