Maybe I'm lucky, but I sent my Wii last week (tuesday) and received it back friday. After some minor problems with reading discs, it finally crashed down but it works fine now. Hope I won't have to pay again for repair.
I live 15 minutes away from their national repair center in the US, so I dropped my DSLite off the first time because the L/R buttons broke and they fixed those but then the top screen wouldn't come on and I had to drive back over the next day. They fixed it no problem. Their customer service is top notch though even if a mistake happens every once in a while.

Same thing happens to mine. And after a while it says "Disk read error...." so I have to eject the disk and turn it off. I'm thinking maybe the fans aren't too good and its over heating? Either way, I need to get it repaired. :(

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

I sent it to repair a year and half ago here in México. But i haven't got the problem you said. Sorry.

Dam, I'm almost expecting mine to go anytime soon cuz the drive is making a lot of noise. That sucks because of where I live.
well when my wii was sent back i lost all my data from the past three years except for the few things nintendo felt like letting me transfer. it came back with new pieces in it and is "factory certified" which nintendo claims is nothing like refurbished.
apparently i was susposed to get an 8 page letter detailing why they couldn't be bothered with saving the data, but it was not sent with the console on return.
Also, i had to update from a really old firmware. It took me nearly an hour to update it. Once again, the rep i talked to afterward said they should have put the newest firmware available on it.
nintendo needs to look into getting a different company to sublet it's repairs to. whoever does it now is very half-assed.
I also took the time to explain to the rep that as far I was a concerned better memory management was a deal breaker for me next generation. I wouldn't buy a laptop that would only let me save a few select files. Both of Nintendo's competitors have ways to upgrade/back-up their consoles system currently. Will I have to rebuy VC games because I can't transfer it to the new system with an XBL - esque account.? I will be choosing a different console next time if Nintendo does not improve the ability of its' consumers to back-up and transfer data.
There is also no chance in hell I am getting any console at launch again. The only console I ever got at launch was the WII and it is the only one to fail.

Whoa... Wait...So wii's DO break then? wow, all i've heard up until now are ps3's or 360's, nothing on the wii, psp or ds.

Thats weird, I hope I dont get the same thing because I also sent my wii for same problem.
