You sure you don't want to recall that notion haha. New Super Mario Bros Wii is definitely going to have a big opener of about 2-2.5 million worldwide but Galaxy 2 won't supersede that. If anything it might be able to replicate it or be just a little lower. But in no way ever will it come close to MW2's record... not even if we were to compare by single platform on 360.

Nintendo's games definitely sell for long periods of time, but for the most part Pokemon has been the only one proven to have record size openers. Now Zelda and Mario definitely could both hit those but it would take a lot more focus and larger scale advertising BEFORE the game came out to accomplish.


But as games become more and more mainstream we could potentially see bigger openers across the board. But MW2 will be the record for awhile.

I'd be hugely surprised (and delighted) if SMG2 managed 10M. 7-8M is the most likely range.
