| Parokki said: Twilight Princess was the most succesful Zelda game in Japan since Ocarina of Time. It's hardly a flop, considering how the series has never been big around there. |
Quoted from Wikipedia:
"In spite of the game's success in America and Europe, however, Miyamoto has publicly expressed disappointment at Twilight Princess' modest sales in Japan. The reason, he believes:
'Well, I think a lot of people who bought the Wii are not necessarily the types of people who are interested in playing that kind of game. And a lot of the people who would want to play it [due to chronic shortages of the console] can't find a Wii! But mostly, I think it's that there are fewer and fewer people who are interested in playing a big role-playing game like Zelda.'"
It doesn't really matter what we think if Miyamoto doesn't like it. The fact that PH is likely to outsell TP 2 to 1 lifetime does nothing to change that fact.
Incidentally, that last line confirms the RPG element of Zelda.
And yes, Nintendo needs to change things up with the franchise. They know this. I think PH did a great deal to that extent for a spin off. I do find it likely that Zelda will be playable in one of the future games. You've played as other characters than Link since MM.
