Man some times I think my posts are invisible.
If you do the numbers properly you will see that PC sales probably account for the difference (need to be ~150K for Oct). Have a look at my post not far above your first one.
And remember NPD = USA, not the world. Maybe you were thrown because the link was to the Aussie IGN website?
I'm assuming it beat inFamous, but it shouldn't be hard given inFamous is exclusive new IP and Borderlands is 3xmultiplatform.
How many 3xmultiplatform new IPs have there been in 2009 I wonder? Kinda depressing thought if there have only been a few. The year has been stacked with re-hashes of previous gen IP or this gen launch IP? Fortunately there have been some exclusive new IPs, but they are almost no chance of outsell a 3xmultiplatform new IP at launch.
They are probably fortunate that Dante's Inferno is a 2010 release, I think that will have a pretty good 3xmultiplatform release for a new IP.

Yeah PC probably helped out alot, being a FPS game and all. But what about UFC Undisputed? It did 660k first week on all platforms, and Borderlands did 300k, so PC would have to do more than PS3/360 combined (360k) for it to outsell UFC?

Claims Borderlands sold 545k copies
Remember they are probably using internal numbers which include DD too.
Anyway i think Dante Inferno will be smaller - first it releases in much worse period, second it won't spearhead avalanch of big titles like Borderlands did, third shooter and rpg genres are much bigger than market for Devil May Cry clones (and DMC has strong position in Japan too)

Multiplat (Borderlands) vs. Exclusive (Uncharted 2), so urgh.
But yes, I also expected it to bomb due to lack of hype or distinguishing features.
NPD = USA
USA =/= World.
Still very impressive for a new IP, though.
not bad
it is a unique proposal in some ways
but I hope dragon age origins outsells it

Yeah but the ps3 still sold them a couple hundred thousand copies. So think of the 360 as the bread and butter but the ps3 as the butter knife to spread it out.
I didn't expect this game to be a top selling IP. I thought it would be just another game to flop. I was so wrong!
