HD is fine but only an add on for good games. And let’s face the facts, The best games on this console generation are on Wii. Yes there are successful games on the PS360, like Modern Warfare 2. But MW2 is far from beeing a good game as far as "2012" is from beeing a good film. The single player part of MW2 is like a rail shooter (but not as good as Dead Space: Extraction) with a dull and boring storyline and last only 4-5 hours. The MP-Part is okay, but nothing special.

Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Fire Emblem, Super Paper Mario, de Blob, Little Kings Story, Dead Space: Extraction, World of Goo, Twilight Princess etc. are the good games of this generation.

Wii titles

vs

HD Twins titles:

MGS4

Mass Effect 1&2

Uncharted 1 &2

GOW Collection & 3

Fable II

Heavy Rain

Alan Wake

Left4Dead 1&2

BioShock 1&2

Assassins Creed 1&2

Dragon Age: Origins

Mech Warrior

Blaz Blue

Street Fighter 4

Tekken 6

Dead Space

Lost Odyssey

Final Fantasy XIII

Final Fantasy XIII Versus

M.A.G.

Call of Duty 4 MW,  WAW & MW2

Batman  Arkham Asylum

Yakuza 3 & 4

Condemned 1 & 2

Halo 3

Halo ODST

Halo Reach

Halo War

Resistance 1 & 2

Killzone 2

...... Etc, etc and the list goes  on and  on.

I  am not even finished and as the list goes  on your argument gets weaker and weaker. This is only off the top of my head. Guess which systems the  hardcore  will be going  after?  Seriously, this isn't that hard of a decision. These are all highly rated games.

Wow i just look at those games in that list and think how similar in gaemplay styles they all are with the exception of tekken and sf4 it's all a little samey

Yes they are samey. They are all good games.

I'd class some of them as mediocre tbh, And most of them are available for the pc btw.

Well you can make a long list of wii games as well. And some of the games on that list are exclusive, so you shouldn't post them on a list that's called HD twin games. It's unfair to compare 2 consoles vs 1(Halo, MGS,L4D, MAG, GOW, Killzone, etc), so those games don't belong on that list if you're going to compare it with only 1 console.

Zelda: the twilight princess

Metroid prime 3

Metroid prime trilogy(you listed remakes, this remake is even better =])

World of Goo

New super Mario bros wii

Super smash bros brawl

Mario kart: wii

Super Mario Galaxy

Okami

Boom Blox: Bash party, Boom Blox

Punch-out!!

Super Paper Mario

Little kings story

Tiger Woods PGA tour 10- Wii is the best version by far

Zack and Wiki:...

Guitar hero/rock band DJ Hero games

RE4: Wii edition - It's the best version of the game by far.

Muramasa: The demon blade

No more heroes

And the list goes on as well

Ps: Games like Heavy Rain aren't out yet, so why add it to your list? I can add No more heroes 2, metroid: Other M, Super Mario galaxy 2, Red steel 2, Zelda: Wii,etc then... We all know the games I listed will score good as well...

well I'd be disappointed too

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

At this point, I'd say there's general failure on both sides. 3rd parties are leaving money at the table by not supporting the most mainstream, best selling console in history with prime releases. Logically it's just insane, and it may even be too late since no real stable markets were uilt early in the platform's cycle (except by Nintendo). Comparing the industry response to PS2 versus Wii is laughable.

Nintendo also clearly needs to be doing more to get choice content. Even if it's ports... there's no good reason that brands like Tekken, Assassin's Creed, GTA, Metal Gear or Army of Two can make it to PSP (a platform that literally can't seem to sell games) and not Wii. The only reason I can think of is Nintendo themselves. Less apathy, more action.

all this is fault of one entity : Nintendo themselve

I have repeated it a lot of time : Wii is suficiently powerfull to handle adpated HD games
but since ninty is not pushing this way (the non-Ninty hardcore games way I mean), they dont get those games ...

Wii 2009 line-up : another Mario ....

Wii 2009 line-up : another Mario + CoD + AC + Tekken !

I love it when people say its 'Nintendos fault'. What were they suppose to do? They went 2 generations where they made some of the most powerful systems on the market and practically coddled Third Parties trying to get their support (the N64 and GameCube). Instead, they went running to the weakest system and ignored Nintendo completely.

Now Nintendo went an entirely different route, trying to develop a system that was cheap to develop for with the highest userbase and had multiple control options. And instead, all the third parties did the opposite. They ran to the systems that had the better graphics and were the most powerful.

Its hardly Nintendos fault. They've been following the trends of the industry for years. Its more like third parties have been making some kind of conscious decision to skip over Nintendo systems ever since the N64. And even if Nintendo went out there and tried to pay for third party exclusives (which they don't do), many third parties probably wouldn't do it. And why wold they, when Microsoft and Sony does the same thing and they have quite a preference for HD.

The only way Nintendo is going to get third parties to work on a Nintendo system now is if they have the best graphics and a clear lead in the start of the market next gen.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

You're kind of blind if you think all these games have the same gameplay style. This is a mix of FPS, Action/Adventure, TPS, WRPG, JRPG, Action RPG's and more. I respect Nintendo and anyone here knows that, but they marketed the Wii to only one demographic and that is casuals. The hardcore have to take what  they can get on that system. The majority of the hardcore titles are on the HD Twins.

Seriously, can we stop using the words 'hardcore' and 'casual'?  Nintendo isn't marketing to 'casuals'.  That was a word made up by the same people who tried to use the word 'hardcore' to elevate the games they like from other games.

Nintendo tries to target their games to 'everyone', not 'casuals'.  Games like Metroid, Mario and Zelda are not 'casual', they're for 'all ages'.  Likewise, games like GTA, God of War and MGS are not 'hardcore'.  They're mearly games targeted towards certain groups.  Using the blanket term of 'hardcore' doesn't even work because not everyone who likes MGS likes God of War.

Casual= people who don't generally play videogames or don't care enough to get better because how complicated console and controllers have become.

The Wii was created with families in mind, so they had to add the casual element and it worked. They marketed the Wii as an easy to use system to escape everyday life. You can enjoy it with your friends and family. They broke the casual market  because of this. Sony has been trying for this market and has never been able to reach them despite stellar sales  in the past.

Even if you're going to keep using that term, Nintendo isn't just targeting that market.  Games like Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Smash Bros Brawl, Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and even New Super Mario Bros Wii arguably are all games focused away from this group.  If anything, the only games that hit that market are the 'Wii' titles and games like Nintendogs.

Doesn't matter. When it comes down to it are the third party core titles  being supported? F*** no. That tells you something about the wildly large installed base. Third party devs wanted to use the Wii in the beginning, now they just want to stay away from it.

Gamers like you would enjoy all the games Nintendo isn't getting. The majority of Wii owners wouldn't give a crap and all the third party devs know this.
