@Kantor

The recent Ninja Gaiden aren't even that difficult if you compare them to the 8-bit version. And they're far from button smashing, it has tons of strategy and combo placement to properly master the games ;)

I take it that you don't like difficult games then, so you hadn't have a try at Demon's Souls too?

I'd like nothing more than to buy Demon's Souls. But alas, no European release.

I should clarify: The first parts of the demo, on Normal difficulty, were easy. It's just that final boss fight with the whatever chosen one thingy woman. I couldn't beat her on Normal, and I beat her in 18 seconds on Easy, so there's no "just right" there.

Well, I got lucky, one store in my town had the game ;) (I'm from Portugal)

Well, the easy mode only had you pressing one button to properly pass the game, Triangle on the PS3 if i'm not mistaken (I only downloaded the 360 version since my PS3 is in repairs).

Normal mode actually adds the challenge of action oriented games, so you'll have to learn to properly set up combos and have one finger on R2 to dodge at all times. One suggestion, Aerial combos rock and will allow you faster dodges with more wide space to do it, so you should try that.

Alright, I'll try to defeat evil/good/whatever chosen witch woman. But only for the principle, I'm still not buying the game.

I went back and looked at your principles, and I just got to add my opinion. Those points you adressed are also found on the God of War games, especially more so because they have less combos and offer less strategic approaches to each battle.

Even on Titan, GoW games were relatively easy when compared to most stapleholds in the Action genre. Granted they have one of the best stories ever made for the genre, and they're amongst the best in all overall aspects, I just think that those points you gave are a bit unfair to point only to japanese hack and slash ;)

@Kantor: Beat her on hard and achieve an average of gold ranking across all fights and get back to us. It's an easy demo. :P

Demon's Souls Official Thread  | Currently playing: Left 4 Dead 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Magicka

I just beat it on Normal, and got Gold. Just about managed to beat evil/good demon/witch/whatever.

If THAT's the first boss... no thanks.

By the way, WTF does magic do? The game never thought to explain that.

Besides, the PS3 demo doesn't have a "Hard" difficulty.

Well done, Sega, well done.

The magic bar activates the Torture Finishers when you have a full bar. They're either activated with the Triangle or the Circle buttons, and the faster you press them during Torture, the more spectacular them move will be.

Just do a Torture Finisher on a Boss...one of the most awesome things you'll ever see :D

I really don't know if it's just a normal finish or a torture finisher, since the Torture kill menu appeared right before I killed the boss.

Did you normal kill him and had that huge dragon/dog thing eat him?
