Forums - Nintendo - Will Apple Take Over Nintendo? (a fantastic piece of informed journalism)

at most their casual thunder.

the game market no, apple have no studio and just shovelware as third party support.

but of course nintendo have their loyal fanbase.

I don't think people realize how BOS works and the advancement of further reaching distant markets. Nintendo is making a few bad mistakes and getting caught up in old ways of thinking. Give it some time they will get it right. They are already proving it with the DS line.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

is it just me or is anyone else getting tired of these Wii HD rumors?

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

Apple has nowhere near enough money to buy Nintendo.

Actually they have enough assets to borrow enough money. But then so can Nintendo, it's really up to what investors would want to do.

Hiroshi Yamauchi(you know him?) is the top investor with 10% of Nintendo, and Nintendo has nearly 20% of itself in treasury and capability to buy another 10-20% with its own money. So needless to say, it's far fetched indeed.

Steve Jobs would have to personally lick Hiroshi Yamauchi's anus.

More chance of Nintendo buying SCE than this lol

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

lol. It would never work.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

If an article with the headline "Will Apple take over Nintendo?" doesn't consist of the single word "No," then it is not a piece of informed journalism at all. In fact, it's the standard game-industry bias: painting the Wii's sales as "beleagured" while ignoring the identical drops in the HD console sales, the "Wii HD" lie, and all the other crap.

Apple has no interest whatsoever in Nintendo, and vice versa. Why would they?

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

not a chance in hell. could never afford them.

I love how anytime a company isn't making profit, people think they're going to die off or be bought out.

People need to get over this total view of profit or death absolutism. Nintendo has gone from a 15% marketshare in consoles to top of the heap. And their handheld system alone has dominated the gaming industry over the last 15 years. They're not going to suddenly throw up their hands and say 'well screw it, might as well sell'.

Plus Apple is hardly anyone to buy Nintendo. Nintendo is a company that has comparable market value and products to Apple. I'd be more inclined to think Apple would be bought out before Nintendo.
