I did enjoy the SP, but it did not have the same sought of bang as the AC-130 level, but they were some truly stunning levels nevertheless

However, I have done the 7 hours on hardened (it actually took me less but because of trophy issues I had to replay a few levels) but it is time for the MP.

I'm now level 32 after 9 hours 30, and am very happy with a kdr of 1.27. My main gun is the SCAR-H, but I am thinking of changing once I get another 20 or so kills as then I will have done everything with that gun other than get the final head shots I need. I am not sure what to use until I get the ACR later on, which will certainly carry me to level 70.
As for perks, I have been using slight of hand, stopping power and steady aim, but I am now diversifying as they are all fully levelled up (I have a few more with some of them), but using marathon is great fun. What I am also doing now is using throwing knives, but I haven't had much luck yet....

As for killstreaks, that is where I struggle to decide. In general, I get loads and loads of UAVs, but few long killstreaks (my max is 14), atm I am using UAV, predator missle and harriers, I really want an AC - 130, but I don't think I'll ever get there... that 14 kill streak came with quite a few kills from my chopper

The only thing I don't like about this game and CoD4 before it, is the fact that they literally pick the worst hosts possible. They need to fix this. I mean sure most of the time they pick hosts that can get most people to have full connections, but even then it lags a little. And then you have those people who ALWAYS get host when they are the only ones who have full green connections.

1. So, rework the matchmaking system to pick better hosts.

Then you have the delay caused by the lag, and the hit boxes being too large, and bullet lag which seems worse in MW2 than in CoD4. I mean, I don't know how many times I will die after running 10 feet around a corner or going prone 2 seconds ago only to watch the kill came show bullets hitting me still standing up, or see that x hit indicator show up after I've already cleared the corner 2 seconds ago....

2. Fix hit boxes so they aren't so wide when crouching or moving around corners. Fix bullet lag (which mostly relies on getting #1 fixed... or hey, why not use some of that $600 million on some dedicated servers?!)

I believe that is by design.  You actually will gain an advantage if your Internet connection is extremely laggy during the host selection phase.  The better your connection, the less chance you will have to be selected the host.  I believe that most P2P host selection algorithms work like this.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Well that's just stupid.  Makes sense though.  When I was rocking 3mb DSL with like 512kb upload, I was host EVERY GAME on CoD4.  Now with Verizon FiOS and 25mb down with 15mb upload, I rarely get host

I know.  I tend to play online during non-peak hours.  Occasionally, I will end up in games with players in other countries.  I usually do extremely well because I end up as the host.  You should get your DSL back for your online connection.  If you really care, you can influence selection by initiating a lot of downloads from a PC during the host selection phase.

Edit: This is one of the many benefits of dedicated servers.  Laggers and poor quality hosts don't gain an advantage.

You mean lag switching?  And yes, I agree with the DS argument.  The only thing that really irks me, though, is that Host Advantage seems to be getting worse with the newer games released.  I rarely saw any advantage back in Halo 2 and Rainbow Six Black Arrow.... and even Halo 3 had barely any advantage at all unless it was a really laggy host.  Then Gears of War 2 had horrible host advantage and now so does CoD4/6...

Do you know how I could do the whole downloading thing or whatever to get host more often?  Is there some program I can run that will just flood my line temporarily and can be shut off as soon as I'm host?  Everytime I have host, the host advantage seems slim to none and EVERYONE has full green connection with me.

I watch on kill cams a lot and is not way what happens in half of them happened in game, like some the guys are shooting all around me for a few seconds but none of it was on my screen, other times I watch the kill cam and I don't even pass through his crosshairs yet his bullets still kill me. Bullshit right there.

Exactly.  My most hated kill cams are when I ran around the corner, then the guy shoots at the empty space just before the corner and the little x's pop up indicated I was hit and I die.  Or when I am in a gun fight for like 2 seconds as I stumble onto a guy by surprise, only to watch me stand there like a moron and fire like once on the kill cam.

Limewire or another P2P program.

Torrent some porn, seriously !!

I've been host many times, and i have a good connection, and i can tell you the Host gets no advantage when i get it. All pings are max or one below, and people are not where the killcam says they are.

I was just in a match and every single person had a red ping except the host who was maxed.

This happens quite often to me too. I wonder if it's actually by design. It obviously makes getting kills much easier (especially when combined with the aim assist) and so makes the game much more accessable to the average gamer than say Killzone 2 which is much harder to score kills.
