Little Big Planet hardcore?

Spots of it are challenging and can reach controller throwing level of frustrating.  Plus, you need to be dedicated to create levels for it.  I would say it definitely is not casual, though someone who used to be into platformers can get into it.  Just because a game is cute, doesn't mean it can't be hardcore.  Hardcore not the same as gorefest.

Your friend thinks NSMB Wii is a rip off of LBP because of the multiplayer? Is he new to gaming or what? Because I'm pretty sure LBP did not invented 4 players co-op. Hell, it isn't even the first platformer to do that.

He's a Sony fanboy what can I say. He never owned a Nintendo platform in his life (Sad excuse for a gamer) lol!

Take away the user generated content in LBP and you have a mediocre game. A game should be good even without it. That said, it does have user generated content, so I don't mind that LBP gets better reviews then NSMBW. Nintendo played on the safe side with this one. If they added some unlockable characters and online mode with leader boards I'm sure it would have gotten 95%+ reviews all over the internet. Not that I care about online, but some people do I guess.

....that's the premises behind the entire game.....

@OP

NSMBWii is more difficult than LBP? LBP is INFINITELY more difficult than any other platformer. Why? Because there aren't limits to level design. In NSMBWii, you have what the developer put on the disc. In LBP, the possibilities only stop when us as gamer stop thinking and creating

Hell, I bet someone's already about recreate NSMBWii on LBP right now

Unless you can recreate the mechanics of NSMBWii, what's the point of that?

little big planet and it's dlc is a like a sorority girl improv night, the venue itself is awful, but sure some are nice to look at, and a very rare few actually have some talent, but by and large everything it has to offer is terrible

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LBP is amazing, but nothing comes even close to Mario when it comes to platformers, no amount of user generated content can change that.

The same reason they remade Sonic levels: sure you couldn't run 200MPH, but that doesn't mean it wasn't fun
