Forums - Nintendo - Martinet spoke to Miyamoto about Link getting a voice (hes not getting one)

Other characters need voices, not Link though. And if he did get a voice I don't think Martinet would be the right choice.

Thank you Miyamoto! I hope Link never gets a voice. He is the silent hero!
It would be cool though if other characters got voices, but I don't care if they speak an actual language or a made up one, like Midna in TP.

I'm against any of them talking.

To be honest I already narrate in my head and I like it that way.

Im the only one who likes text bubbles... do I... -___-

I wouldent mind Link getting a voice eventually but Martinet? Not sure on that one.

I'm not big on Link getting a voice, but I think the other characters should be voiced. So long as it's high quality, that is.

It actually wouldn't bother me if Link is voiced (and it's done right), but whatI'm expectingis the NPCs to be voiced and Link to remain silent.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

I think the cutscenes need voices, but otherwise it should be text. As i was playing Twilight Princess, i really settled on that. Like when i was trying to run the hot springwater across the field to get it to the one goron on the west side of town, i would have absolutely hated having to listen to that Goron elder (the one hunched over like a Brahmin in front of Malo Mart) berate me for having failed. It was bad enough having to read it, but having to listen would be torturous

But on the other end of the spectrum, when they were in a cinematic sort of context, it was awkward to see this dramatic scene playing out, the character move to speak, and nothing

That's what i feel, now.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

You aren't the one one who is fine with text bubbles.  Entire generations of people grew up with them.

Heck, entire series of games and jokes have come out of using text bubbles.  Games like Paper Mario, Dragon Quest and Zelda itself rely heavily on the text itself.  The gameplay would change if text was altered or removed.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Please, no voices. People talking in English would damage the feeling of being in a seperate world...

At best, I'd say they can use a jibberish language (see Shadow of the Colossus). Midna kind of seemed like she was doing this anyway, and it was great.
