Well, DQ games are knowed to be pretty front-loaded, in some titles the game sold near 75% of lifetime in first week. Since MW2 had such a monster release week, i can't see this game having legs. What do you think?:

This thread would be less ironic were Dragon Quest IX not continuing to see very strong sales despite its tremendous opening.

Yeah, but it wasn't able to even double it first week. DQ IX had the best legs in the series ever, but it still front-loaded.
A DQ9 scenario?
ROFL if it does MW2 will be a 20 million seller!!!!!
| ioi said: Well it will be more 50% in week one I think |
So are you saying 14m lifetime? Less than Modern Warfare 1?
I think 1st week sales of MW2 will account for about 50% of lifetime sales. Recent DQ games haven't had huge opening weeks relatively speaking. Both DQVIII and DQIX have 1st week sales that account for about 50% of lifetime sales. DQIX right now is about 55%, but should plateau out to about 50%.
@munkeh11
week one is almost 10 million
so ioi means almost 20 million
more than GTA:SA in short
The things is that, they take one week to make 10 million at full price, and take the rest of generation to make other 10 million with price cuts and sales. But i think it common for this kind of opening, like, if it was able to make 20X first week like many minor releases do it would be a 200 million seller.

Oh yeah, sorry all these different figures have confused me... I forgot which one was which
