I feel reviewers are going to be to generous with this game. I'm a fan of Left 4 Dead but a 95 is crazy for such a repetitive and simple game.

You can pretty much say that about any game out there.

Umm... WHAT?!?!?! It's true that many games are repetitive and simple, but Left 4 Dead is insanely repetitive and often pointless.

You just run>kill some zombies on the way>complete objective(s)>get scored>repeat

There isn't even a highscore list in the game.

If you're making it through missions that easily, you're either really good or playing on a difficulty that's too easy.

I disagree. LBP is an example of a PS3 game that is repetitive and simple, but people seem to like it as well.

It's a co-op multiplayer game. When are co-op multiplayer shooters not repetitive? Since when do they have a "point." It's rediculious to believe that games have a point beyond entertainment, and I don't understand why someone would choose to take a stance against this game without some other motivation...

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Uncharted 2 was received exceptionally well but several reviewers still threw a wobbly over the lack of bringing anything substantially new to the table, so I wonder if any of the L4D2 reviews will scrutinise the lack of a step forward.

I expect this game will end up at about 89 on Metacritic in the long run. Not a chance in hell of it winning GOTY though.

no no no, i disagree, lbp will never be simple because of the creative levels that can be created, new and fresh levels is what keeps the game from getting boring, the game is as good as the community....on the other hand, l4d only had a few ammount of maps in the beg. surely the difficulty became different but its still a very simple game....most shooters though are simple and repatative, however lbp is not, the level creating is a class of its own

oh and l4d might may be repatative and simple, but its damn fun with the right people

To be fair, L4D has a robust level creator as well. Surely it's not very user-friendly (at least compared to the LBP editor), and PC owners of L4D have access to a wide variety of user made campaigns.

As expected...must have co-op for the holidays.

It's pretty easy to hop into a game. I hopped into one - the concert level on Midnight Rider where you have to signal a chopper to come and get you at the fairgrounds - and it took about 10 seconds for the game to realize your character wasn't an NPC anymore. Really, really sweet.

I have to admit - it's a hella fun game.

Oh well, off to play Assassin's Creed 2. And finish Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Great score, but I'll wait for the non-microsoft reviewers like IGN and Gamespot.

great score but i think i'll wait for LFD3 next holiday....ZING!

I play, and have played, a bunch of boardgames.  For myself, what Left 4 Dead does, is approximate what I get when I play a multiplayer cooperative boardgame, but in a FPS format.  It is fun getting people together to play through the game, and be surprised by randomization, and have to work things out on the fly.  This makes things enjoyable on the whole.  It may seem "repetitive and simple", but when you talk about multiplayer, it is worth it to have that.  That is similar to what one seens with Mario Kart, Brawl, or even Halo.

LOL...you're a fan of the game...but find it repetitive?  Right....
