Forums - Gaming - Seriously people, don't some of you have any responsibilities?

I would skip a whole week for one game. And that is THE Final Fantasy XIII.

Around the Network

Let me be blunt real quick, they dick ride it.

(In love with it)

Geez! I just fired up the game again for a bit and there was a guy at level 60! I swear to God that people like that are the reason that I find it impossible to enjoy online multiplayer. I never get so mad at anything in my entire life as I do at multiplayer. I can rarely muster a killstreak of 3 or 4 and there's these people who do it like nothing. No matter what I do, I can't stay alive very long.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

Responsibility is the reason why I only own a Wii and barely get enough time to play that. However, when I get a new game I tend to have late nights for a week or so.

Many of you can skip school or college for some days (i did it also) but now that i'm working, i can't do that, but the goodness is that my job involves traveling so i put to use the handhelds and carry at least one console with me for the nights i'm doing nothing, last year i had to go to Tulsa for 2 weeks, no offense for people from there, but damn that place is boring, fortunately it was the holiday season and i had the PS3 with me...

Some might be able to skip if they are undergrads (though, I don't see how you can do it for Senior level courses), but once you are in grad school-- skipping will kill your academic career (if your program is decent, skipping one class will kill your grade and one bad grade is enough to finish you in grad school). Though, I don't see why people skip classes anyway-- for any given school day you will only have 2-3 hours of class (and that is assuming you are taking 15 hours--- 12 is considered full time).

I'm from Oklahoma-- and you are right, Tulsa is kinda boring.  Tulsa has actually been dying for about 20 years (the oil bust in the 80's really hurt Tulsa).  That being said-- people live in Oklahoma because it is a slower lifestyle.  I am one of those individuals that enjoys the slower lifestyle-- but even I don't have enough time to play games as much as some others (between work, grad school, and my family I am lucky to play games a few hours a week).

Is like you said, skipping will kill your academic career if it's a decent program, some won't have that, it depends. I skipped when i was in school (we're talking the 16 bit and 32 bit era) and there're some ways to skip senior courses, but it's not some random day, it has to be calculated, so it's only worth if a really epic game is coming, i did it when Final Fantasy VIII came out (my favorite FF ever) and i didn't have enough time to dedicate it, so i decided to skip the day that i had a few classes, no tests, all the classes were pure theory (no Chem, no Physics, no Advanced Math, etc.), and we've just started the term... I dedicated the whole day and the night before to FF8, and when i returned i was back on business...

About Tulsa, hey don't get me wrong, i like a slower lifestyle too , but only in my home, when i go out on business, i have a little time to be a tourist so i do the most out of every place, and most times, the destinations are big cities so i'm now used to this, and a month before Tulsa guess where i was sent to: New York City, so in Tulsa i felt that i had a lot of time in my hands... That's where the PS3 and the handhelds came in handly...

For now, i only have work time, game time and social time (sometimes the last 2 are together), but you also have grad time and family time, so i get why you can only play a few hours a week...

I usually only play about an hour a day. I take most of my responsibilities quite seriously, and generally lead quite a scheduled existence.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

well i did wonder what members of the royal family and aristocratic families got up to,now i know, they are online gaming.......

Some gamers are just naturally good at those type of games. I agree with your question. There are some people who devote their life to video games when they should be concentrating on school, if they have children or some other responsibilty.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

Responsibilities are lame. Just do whatever you feel. Hell set someone on fire I don't care. Cover yourself in bear urine if you want.
