Some might be able to skip if they are undergrads (though, I don't see how you can do it for Senior level courses), but once you are in grad school-- skipping will kill your academic career (if your program is decent, skipping one class will kill your grade and one bad grade is enough to finish you in grad school). Though, I don't see why people skip classes anyway-- for any given school day you will only have 2-3 hours of class (and that is assuming you are taking 15 hours--- 12 is considered full time).
I'm from Oklahoma-- and you are right, Tulsa is kinda boring. Tulsa has actually been dying for about 20 years (the oil bust in the 80's really hurt Tulsa). That being said-- people live in Oklahoma because it is a slower lifestyle. I am one of those individuals that enjoys the slower lifestyle-- but even I don't have enough time to play games as much as some others (between work, grad school, and my family I am lucky to play games a few hours a week). |
Is like you said, skipping will kill your academic career if it's a decent program, some won't have that, it depends. I skipped when i was in school (we're talking the 16 bit and 32 bit era) and there're some ways to skip senior courses, but it's not some random day, it has to be calculated, so it's only worth if a really epic game is coming, i did it when Final Fantasy VIII came out (my favorite FF ever) and i didn't have enough time to dedicate it, so i decided to skip the day that i had a few classes, no tests, all the classes were pure theory (no Chem, no Physics, no Advanced Math, etc.), and we've just started the term... I dedicated the whole day and the night before to FF8, and when i returned i was back on business...
About Tulsa, hey don't get me wrong, i like a slower lifestyle too , but only in my home, when i go out on business, i have a little time to be a tourist so i do the most out of every place, and most times, the destinations are big cities so i'm now used to this, and a month before Tulsa guess where i was sent to: New York City, so in Tulsa i felt that i had a lot of time in my hands... That's where the PS3 and the handhelds came in handly...
For now, i only have work time, game time and social time (sometimes the last 2 are together), but you also have grad time and family time, so i get why you can only play a few hours a week...
