Forums - Gaming - Why is Tekken on its 6th and Soul-Calibur is only on its 4th?

Soul Cal has always been more fun than tekken.

Street Fighter 4 rapes them both tho.

Tekken 6 makes SF4 look like a newb game. Especially if you put two professionals who excel in both games.

I dunno about that ^

SCII sold more then Tekken 4, and was just a little behind Tekken 5. So really they have been close for awhile now.

I like this arguement, it's cute. Tekken 4 and SCII can be compared sure, Tekken 4 on one console though, SCII on 3 but you really should compare Tekken 5 with Soul Calibur III, both released in the same year and on the same console.

Hmm, pie.

Actually Soul Calibur 4 is the fifth in the series (since you forgot Soul Edge the first game in the series) with one spin off being Soul Calibur Broken Destiny, making the series have a total of six games.

While Tekken has six main series and four spin offs. And Tekken came out before Soul Edge did.

So in short the Tekken series was out longer, took off pretty fast as it was one of the first big 3D fighters. Soul Edge on the other hand not many knew about, hell even with Soul Calibur on Dreamcast getting a perfect score from IGN when that meant something, it didn't take off until the second iteration being Soul Calibur 2.

Soul Calibur will probably catch up in number of titles, but Tekken was the first successful child of Namco so of course it has more games.

Not going to argue if its true or not as I'm only very good at street fighter. SF is the more fun of the two IMO.. I mean, juggles are fun... but when the whole game is juggle after juggle, it gets kinda....ugh!

You could have just used wikipedia for this...

Ah yes, now that you mention it SCIII and T5 would be the best to compare for last gen. way to go.
