I have never played a Call of Duty Game but decided to buy into the MW2 hype and pick up a copy of the game yesterday.  Seems quite rubbish to me.  What kind of FPS is this where you just press a button and you fix in on the targets?  Thought the whole point of FPS was aiming?  Is this meant to be Metroid or something?  The game seems quite boring to me.  Was planning to spend a good few hours on it yesterday but after about half an hour I had had enough and gave up on it.  Might come back to play it again so my £32 doesn't get wasted but I didn't enjoy my time with the game and that is unlikely to change.

I also absolutely hated Halo.  Bought an Xbox because someone told me Halo was the most amazing thing ever but what a boring experience.  Going around the same dull huge area for ages, shooting the same boring aliens with the same boring guns. 

I bought Conduit as well and lost interest after less than 15 minutes and haven't touched it since.

So is there something wrong with me hating by far the two biggest FPS shooters of the last two generations?  I know Conduit got crap reviews but Halo and COD are meant to be the greatest things in history according to the hype, sales and reviews.  Funny thing is I absolutely loved Goldeneye and Perfect Dark and quite enjoyed Timesplitters 2.  Is the problem that I have just lost interest in FPS or is it that FPS of today are just following the Halo formula which I hate? 

There's nothing wrong with you, or both of us, because I agree. I don't like FPS that are like run and gun like crazy. I like to know what the heck is going on, to have objectives that make me think what to do, have a bit of stealth etc. Like Perfect Dark or Goldeneye had.

Play Battlefield 2! Best FPS ever if you like open-ended wars vs real human players.

At one point, I hated FPSs too.

Then, I bought Bioshock. I played it, and started to enjoy the first person aspects. Slightly. And when I started playing Halo 3's multiplayer, I fell in love with it. Try multiplayer if you're not having fun in the campaigns. And try Gears of War 2 if you're not falling in love with first person shooters.

theres nothing wrong with u dude. This game is overrated its nothing special. Im just thankful i spent $20 on it and even then i feel a bit ripped off. First off the SP is really short and the storyline is horrendous. As for the MP its just the same exact shit from MW1 what a waste of time. this just pisses me off There soo many better games out there that will give u more bang for ur buck that deserved the hype a lot more.

Totally agree with you, halo can die, so can MW2 ... actually, i wish FPS's were never made!

so dont buy fps anymore. if you dont like either halo or modern warfare, you probably wont like any others. you are in luck though...there are plenty of other genres.

I think this may be the last one I will be getting.  Unless a new Timesplitters comes out.  At least I know that is in the FPS style I enjoy.

Precisely.  I loved Perfect Dark especially on the hardest difficulty.  If you just went out all guns blazing you would be dead within 3 seconds.  You had to pop out of the corner, take out a guard as accurately as possible, then duck behind the corner again before having a million bullets pumped into you.  Nowadays it seems FPS have much less tactics.

they are nothing compared to the old James Bond games!
