PS3 before the WII just as I predcited. SD market in Japan is saturated.

In Japan the HD market is significantly smaller then in the rest of the World. Because the Xbox360 was no choice for Japan and PS3 was too expensive until now. In the End the HD market will be bigger or atleast as big as the SD market.

Currently its: 5 Mio vs 8.7 Mio this is 36% vs 64%. And the PS3 will grow until its about 50/50.

Why should be Japan different then the Rest of the World. If the SD market was not so big in Japan and it would be 50/50 there then the HD market would be 58% and the SD market would be 42%.

I knew this would happen. And it will continue. The PS3 will catch up to the WII in the future even more until its atleast 45% HD market. But it would be weird if Japan the High-Tech Country would have a smaller HD market then the rest of the World. So I think that PS3 will gain a lot sales in Japan in the next 2 years.

Its just logical in my eyes. You can see this development. Japan is the market where the Pricedrop failed the most. I wouldnt be shocked if the Gen would end with PS3 above the WII in Japan. But I am sure it will atleast catch up until the difference is 2 Mio.

Well I think the term ''beacons'' is refering to something else than this week sales.

@Netyaroze: All the pieces are there.  Japan is the world's HD leader in most other respects, I believe.  I could be wrong on some of this, but I think they have 1) most HD sets per capita, 2) most HD programming subscribers per capita, 3) first to broadcast in DTV/HDTV, 4) first to end analog transmission.

Japan frequently leads the way in adoption of new technology and I think an argument could be made that the initial success of Wii in Japan had more to do with the new tech (motion control) than anything to do with the game selection or Nintendo brand. 

Beacons are what you look towards going forward, not what you look back at.

not good for PSP go, first day 28k, next 7 days 15k. I can't see it being anything more than a niche product in Japan. I think it was made with the west in mind though.

November has always been a strong month for Sony right around when winning eleven comes out. Usually December is strong for Nintendo but we'll have to see what happens with FF13 in December too. PS3 had great sales this week.

Yes but comparing with the ps3 sales it's not doing good. Wii needs to recover momentum, and 24k after a price cut (which in west had way better results) it's not bad, but if we are speaking of the leader console and near Christmas I don't know if it's enough...As I said I just hope people is waiting for NSMBW or some other games, even if not everything can be explained in this way...
