As Gilgamesh said, this feature was announced a few days ago to be on par with the release of the game in JAP territory. Speculation was made whether this will come to other territories as well, since FFXIV is also slated to release for PC as well, but no confirmation has been issued so far.
I think that the friday surprise is going to be bigger than the confirmation of the beta keys for NA/EU territory ;)
