Forums - Gaming - Requesting the most in depth turn based games VGChartz knows

Hey all. I'm in the mood to play some variety of turn based game, probably strategy or rpg. So suggest away, I want the games to be in depth and complicated, something like Civilization is good - but don't actually say Civ because I've played a lot of it.

Bonus points if I can play it on Wii or a fairly low spec windows laptop

Even more bonus points if it can legally be aquired for $0

Cheers

Not sure if this is very deep, but it's unbelievably fun. Heroes of Might and Magic III. It will no doubt work on a low-end laptop, not sure though if it can be legally obtained for free or not.

Well as for Nintendo console, but I guess you already knew these > Fire Emblem.

On PC there are Jagged Alliance, UFO Series, Fallout Tactics which are more of a tactical rpg. Than you have Heroes of Might and Magic (2+3 are in my personal top), friend also suggested Disciples. Ofcourse there is Alpha Centauri and Master of Orions, but these games are really really old.

EDIT: I forgot Fantasy General and the whole War series (Panzer General, something something...).

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

I second that, HOMAM 3 is till this day my favourite turn based strategy, I have it still on my pc and play it from time to time. You can get the full version with all datadiscs practicaly for free.

I would say the Total War-series. The slightly older ones can probably be found for cheap, like Medieval II: Total war or Rome: Total war, and they are still a blast to play.

Heroes of Might and Magic III

I know I'm not the first person who said this, but it's just that good :)

Good taste everyone, but I've played Heroes 3 even more than civilisation.

Total war might be worth getting

My favourite was Rome, and it could run well on weaker PCs.

Jagged Alliance 2

The best gamedesigne of any turn based strategy game with lots of RPG-elements.

It works on older PC or Laptops.
Try to get JaggedAlliance 2 -Wildfire
