now why couldn't Nintendo have made Excitebike into a fully fledged wii game instead of that god-awful ExciteBots

Really?  I thought that ExciteBots was awesome.  I thought that it was one of themost underrated games of this generation actually.

@ OP  Yes, Excitebike is a fantastic game.

I really like this game too, although I do think there are a couple of flaws. It is in my opinion much easier than the original NES game, I already have an S ranking on 12 of the 16 tracks, after only a couple of hours and I've never been good at the original game. Also while online is fun, I don't understand not having any form of local multiplayer. Also lack of online leaderboards is disappointing. Still a great game and would recommend it to anyone who likes the original, or is looking for a good WiiWare racer.

i got this game too, and i love the online. it's addicting, just mk wiis and excitebots'

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1

you can view a few screenshots from the game in my photo album here; http://www.vgchartz.com/photos/album.php?album=2312

I was just thinking how cool would it be if you could play people custom track online!  They do that and add local MP this would be the best game on the Wii or up in the few!

Wait...wat?

And my enthusiasm declines dramatically.

Wiiware is cool, i've been getting into it more lately. World of Goo is close to my favourite game this gen, i'm currently loving Winter of Melodies and now i have to think about getting Excitebike, damn you!

Don't forget about Dr. Mario! That game has given me countless hours of pure entertainment, probably more than half the retail Wii games I own.. I tell you though, some of those people online are just BRUTAL, even for a seasoned Dr. Mario vet like myself.

Yeah Dr MArio is a great game... and agree about the brutal part

I agree: ExicteBots is criminally underrated. (And, yes, Excitebike is quite good, though the lack of local MP is kinda not good.)

i'll probably install the game sometime this week, i never played the original on the nes, so might not enjoy the game , nostalgia does not apply to me in this case.

i never played the nes game, but i still like this one, simply because the gameplay is good and the online conpliments it well.
