Forums - Gaming - Valve disses PS3 and PC community in one swoop

Considering he does nothing but compliment the PC community set-up, I would not be so quick to call him ignorant. Further, he never actually insults either. He just says the 360 and PC are better at pulling a community together based on the assets the community has.

So, if I say I know a first grader that's smarter than you then I'm not insulting you, I'm just complimenting the first grader.

Works for me.

And if he really does know a first grader that is smarter than you?  It's a fact, with no harmful intentions.  Just like what they said in the OP.

These are facts, not insults.

He should just call it as it is, instead of creating so many waves - PC to 360 development is pretty seamless, very easy to bring over to the 360. A lot less work than porting to PS3.

He's 100% wrong.

Both XBL and PSN offer community similar community features. Killzone2 shows just how well and easy a developer can make it for you to join a game with a friend at any time. RE5, SFIV and Uncharted two shows just how simple it can be to set-up games with friends. White Knight Chronicles shows how simple communication can be if the developers want it to be simple. SONY now offers game launching partying up and ofcourse chat in private rooms with Playstation Home. Warhawk and Socom have zero problems supporting dedicated servers.

Everything you need make a good online gaming experience on PS3 or 360 is right there to use. Only difference is on 360, MS forces developers to program their games to support in-Game music, cross-game chat, cross-game invites, ect. SONY only demands that each game supports trophies and no game goes over a 5GB mandatory install.

If valve wants a PC or XBLA like gaming experience on PS3, they can. All they have to do is put the effort forward...

Yah those PS3 people not willing to pay for online play! How lame are they?!?

He is also right that the PS3 can't compare to the high caliber of human being I remember playing with in gears of war and the like. I didn't know anything about my mom it turns out. The 360 community as a whole was more then happy to inform me not only of all the things she had done but all the things they were going to do to her later! I appreciate the informative and courteous 360 community to no end!

Seriously though, Valve is just full of it and more or less the ONLY anti PS3 3rd party developer. Honestly though, besides portal, I'm more or less fine without them (and if I really wanted to play a game like L4D I can play it on the PC, which I did). If I had to make a top 10 or even top 20 of games this generation I don't think a single Valve game would be in it. Maybe Portal would sneak into the top 20, maybe (though it was really short).

Even former MS fans like Bioware admit the PS3 is superior hardware wise and MAN does it show if you compare Dragon Age for the PS3 and 360.

Gabe and Co only insult the PS3 because they have deep seated MS loyalty (Gabe was with MS for ever a decade). There really is no argument at all for the 360 or its community being better, especially because its gated with a 49.99 per year toll and no mods.

PSN ID: ChosenOne feel free to add me

get over it it's more profitable for valve to ignore the PS3 and proly always will be between Microsoft kickbacks and better and more familiar Dev kits and an already established usrerbase it just makes more sense to boycot the PS3 it's only because so many people want their games on the PS3 that valve has to say stuff like this so people stop waiting/asking for their games to be ported to PS3.

wait, i thought MS takes care of that themselves by their OS and the devs have nothing to do with it.

right?

PS3's OS is developer based , means developers can change it the way they want.

but 360's OS have mandatory features, without the dev's effort , it offers those features.

im i right? or im i misinformed?

Explain how so, please.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

i think all ps3 owners shouldnt care at all about valve games, unless they come to the system. so when valve makes a comment about the system, we should just not care. cause we have alot of great games to keep us entertained.

For something like cross-game invites, the way in-game music works and achievements, you would assume that developers have to put some sort of input as to how this all works with the game.

None the less, my point still stands. If they want the a 360/PC like experience on PS3, everything they need is there.
