Recently Valve struck out at the PS3 community once again leaving many angry at the studio. An employee of Valve indicated that the Xbox 360 and PC community is “head and shoulders” above the PS3 community. He stated this as the main reason why Left 4 Dead was not on the PS3.

As a company and a veteran studio in the industry, many expect a certain level of professionalism from Valve. However, many where shocked at Valve’s fanboyish stance against the PS3. Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing for Valve made some negative comments towards the PS3 in the past and recently Chet Faliszek, project lead for Left 4 Dead made some questionable remarks in an interview with CVG.

Faliszek implied that the reason why L4D is not on the PS3 is because that the PS3 community is not a good fit with their games. He states, “In hooking up with your friends and the community aspects, I think the Xbox 360 is head and shoulders above the PS3. The 360 and PC are on par, right?" I am not sure what the difference in Xbox 360 and PS3 community aspect Faliszek is talking about, as there is nothing different between the two platforms that is “head and shoulders” apart.

What aspect of the PS3 community could make it impossible for L4D to be on it? To date, the PS3 is the only platform that supports mods, which is a huge deal for Valve. The PS3 is also the only platform that offers open support for mouse and keyboard play, which is another huge deal for Valve. Could the folks at Valve be making excuses for their laziness by dissing the PS3?

In addition to getting flak from angry PS3 owners, Faliszek is getting some fire from the PC community for stating that the 360 and PC are on par.

Faliszek also stated:

"But that’s the short term. What we’re looking at for the long term… if it works out, it works out. Right now don’t not buy it on the 360 because you think it’s coming out on the PS3 – it’s not going to. Right? It’s coming out on the PC and 360. It’s going to be exclusive for that."

It seems like there is some ulterior motive to making these comments as Faliszek is pressuring gamers not to hold off on buying L4D waiting for a PS3 version. I am not sure what is going on with Valve, but Its never a good idea your burn bridges with powerful companies in the video game business as it may eventually come back to bite you.

Damn these guys are pretty ignorant.

Considering he does nothing but compliment the PC community set-up, I would not be so quick to call him ignorant. Further, he never actually insults either. He just says the 360 and PC are better at pulling a community together based on the assets the community has.

OT: Valve is lazy and thinks that they're the best developers because of half life 2(which is a great game) but still many games have surpassed it in many ways so they need to stop being so lazy.

there is no reason to not port the game since EA could make good port SINCE EA understand the PS3
