Forums - Nintendo - Disapointed in lack of online co-op!

The wii isn't known for it's online capabilities so i never buy a game expecting any. As long as the game delivers on local co-op i'll be happy

Around the Network

I wish it did have online. That would be so sweet. I know the game will be better in offline multiplayer. But still, I can't play multiplayer with my friends now. :-/

If they couldn't do it, they couldn't do it. Shiggy himself said it couldn't be done, not that they simply chose not to.

I don't imagine he would lie, and in the process of lying make the Wii look bad (by lying in saying that it is too weak to do so, which is what he said), it would have been much easier for him to have said "we didn't think it would fit" and go away

Either way, i don't really care, since i won't be doing co-op much period, except for the things that absolutely require it to get (in which case i could wait to get those things, like star coins and such, until my roommate or some friends are available to help)

You know that is crap though and you know it, doesn't matter what shiggy says.  Look at the various online games the Wii has that have online multiplayer.

Call me mad but I don't think a 2D Mario game is pushing the Wii to its limits, pretty sure enough power left in it to manage online co-op.

It's not that it would push the system too far, but (and this is how I see it, not stating as fact :P) 2D Mario games can't really work that well with any noticiable lag, even if really small, gameplay-wise. They'd kind of have to rework the engine of the game and maybe even the stages, and it would still not be up to Mario quality (not saying you can't have a good online platformer, but you can't have a great Mario-esque one), wich would be a rather bad idea, you can't have a really dumbed-down mode on a game you deem so important. So maybe when he said it couldn't be done, it really couldn't be done.
