I just figured SMB2 would be harder for noobs than the rest of the games, because it doesn't have Yoshi, flying, or even fireballs.  Even with Peach, there are tons of Snifits shooting bullets at you, and many people can't handle outrunning Phantos.  Also, it seems fewer people know where the warps are in that game, so they end up going through all the hardest levels until they give up, especially in the slippery ice levels or the quicksand levels.  It also has the hardest bosses, where you actually have to catch things in mid-air.  All the other Mario boss battles are just dodging things and jumping on their heads.

For the record, I roll mostly as Luigi and Peach, but yes I've done it Toad only, and it was awesome.

Those are all good points, except for the one about the warps maybe. Two of the three flutes in SMB3 are even better hidden and SMB3 has harder levels too, many people probably hate Water World (the Kevin Costner movie too). Two of the warp zones in SMB can be found easily, so I guess you can justify putting SMB2 above SMB in difficulty. SMB3 and SMW, not so much, as they both have tricky bosses and levels too (even moreso than SMB2).

But anyway, they are all great games safe for Lost Levels. That one was way too hard to really enjoy it.

True, the ones in SMB3 are more effectively hidden, but after The Wizard, and the insane success of SMB3, those whistles have become the most famous secrets in all of gaming.

Some people don't even know that SMB2 has warps at all.

I haven't played all of 1, 2, or 3 in forever though.  I've just been doing the lame same old speed runs for years.  I should go through the whole games again.

You know, I've never played SMB.2

Is it worth it?

Personal opinion: no.  I never liked that abomination.  It just didn't feel like a Mario game to me.  Then I found out why...  We're talking about the Doki doki panic one, right?  The only things I'm grateful for from that game are some characters/items.

Where are my answers, killeryoshis??

It's worth it, but keep in mind it's different from all the other Mario games, mostly because it's not really a Mario game. So as long as you don't expect the familiar, you should enjoy it. And hey, $5!

Very good, actually. F-Zero X is a treasure.
