In late 2008, the console was still being driven by Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit (still sold out then), and it was only after this interest died down (early 2009), that the console saw its sales plummet. As of right now, the $50 price cut push is still being "beat" by the MK Wii / Wii Fit momentum. NSMB Wii has yet to come out, though, and early 2009's sales were not that spectacular due to 2008's weak holiday lineup, so it shouldn't be terribly hard to keep up with YoY. They will definitely need to come out with strong software mid-year, though, else things will start looking "doomed" again (probably what will end up happening). In the end, keep in mind the Wii's 2009 still has a shot at beating the PS2's peak year. It's not doing as great as many of us hoped, but it isn't that bad. |

Q1 2009 was the Wii second best quarter ever outside of a holyday....( behind Q2 2008 by 600k).
