So now I'm an anit-Sony "fanboy"? I can't win for losin'

I never said fanboy

I just said a lot of your speculation has been negative Sony

It's not that. I just know that within this industry, particularly this gen, things can change in the blink of an eye!

Things... Except the 2nd/3rd place position?

As PullusPardus once said: "I'm fast".

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

A system seller not only gives a boost on the first week, but continuously keeps the momentum for good period of time, and so few games have been able to to do so.

Halo 3, Mario Kart, Wiifit, these games are system sellers, ok.

the 360 is doom...just hope it doesn't start to succeed by losing hundreds of millions.

Whatever happened to the PS3 is doomed threads?

It was so obvious Sony could stimulate PS3 sales when they needed to. The people that claimed it was doomed were expressing what they wanted to happen and not would happen.

Christmas is going to be huge for the PS3.

they got on a spaceship that went into outer space & sponteneously combusted!!!

Third year may have been PS2's peak, and so will be Wii's peak, but saying only that may actually be misleading. PS2 managed to sustain a high amount of sales. Heck, 2005 and 2006 saw higher PS2 sales than 2004. Wii was subject to a sudden YoY drop-off with no parallel on console sales history. Damn, Wii 2008-2009 drop-off was bigger than PS2 2001-2008 drop-off in Japan back in the year.

The same would happen everywhere else if wasn't for the pricecut, and know what? It still can't keep with 2008 sales. If thinks keep going like they are, Wii should see sort of a 'weak 2009' in 2010, maybe worse than 2007, leaving Nintendo with no choice but to lower price to $149 at 2010 holidays, sorta mirroring their 2009 behavior. Plus there is Natal with its massive media support and such.

I agree with most of what you said, but not the bold.

It's true that the Wii is still below YoY 2008 after a price cut, but that too, is misleading. In late 2008, the console was still being driven by Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit (still sold out then), and it was only after this interest died down (early 2009), that the console saw its sales plummet.

As of right now, the $50 price cut push is still being "beat" by the MK Wii / Wii Fit momentum. NSMB Wii has yet to come out, though, and early 2009's sales were not that spectacular due to 2008's weak holiday lineup, so it shouldn't be terribly hard to keep up with YoY. They will definitely need to come out with strong software mid-year, though, else things will start looking "doomed" again (probably what will end up happening).

In the end, keep in mind the Wii's 2009 still has a shot at beating the PS2's peak year. It's not doing as great as many of us hoped, but it isn't that bad.

PS3 got a 30k adjustment on last weeks sales, nice.

Good numbers all round.

What caused the big 360 boost?

9% isn't really a boost. It's just regular fluctuation.

Meh, a boost is a boost.

@darth...

PSP Go released in Japan 1st November. These numbers are for week ending 31st October.

not for japan, japan is always tracked a day ahead compared to the others, Japenese SOFTWARE is up & its says for week ending "1st november"

@Leo-j

I know that, but look at the 1st day sales of DSi, PSP-3000 & so on

I am just not impressed, frankly disappointed.

@letsdance

The sales are bad compared to my expecations based on past re-design hardware bumps in Japan

redesigns meant to take the old models place. This just means to get better sense. I dont know whyd anyone expect a new model not meant to be upgraded by a previous owner at a higher price would do better than it did...

Uh, the Go's not targeting established PSP owners?  Then why the "PSP Go Rewards" program for UMD owners?
