Forums - Sony - Video: Sony preps Natal beating motion tech

^ this is more like the surface than natal. I doubt its going to even come out on the PS3 for many reasons 1 of them being they are about to release the wand. Theres no point splintering the fanbase with both the wand and this thing. Thats way too many control methods to buy

Sony dont have original ideas ?

this.

apple got their pinch to zoom feature from that. seriously

I think we are familiar with this from mobile phone apps but it will be Windows 7 with its multitouch tech built in that will bring it into the mainstream. Sony have a good multitouch PC out at the moment that looks really good.

Apple and Microsoft have been doing this, also THE WAND. It's totally not like the Wiimote.

Wow, that first part was a total surface knockoff, which MS first showed years ago. As for the game shown at the end, I just have to laugh at the notion that it's better than natal.

Then you must also get a chuckle that Natal is just an Eyetoy 1.5 and isn't going to revolutionize anything.

Aren't you funny...  Except Natal is much more technologically advanced than an "eyetoy 1.5."  RGB and infrared cameras, multi-array microphone, and onboard processor sounds just a bit better than one simple camera.  When the games start rolling out you will see how far it leaves the eyetoy behind.

As for being revolutionary, no, it probably won't turn anything around.  However, that doesn't take away from the technological achievement.

Natal is a blatent ripoff of eyetoy

I like the table thing for RTS games though. Like in the war movies where the generals at HQ with a map table are moving wooden blocks around the battlefield. But this is sooo much more fun.

There's a multi array microphone on eyetoy. Infrared eyetoy Sony have been talking about and demoing for years. Direct ripoff is natal.
