I'm much more interested in The Grinder.  I'd probably still buy left4dead Wii, but I think The Grinder looks much better.

Ok, more interested in I can definately understand, as it's coming to your platform of choice. But saying it looks much better than left 4 dead? ... Are we talking about the same game?

Left4dead is not a good looking game.  Artistically, The Grinder looks much better.  That, and the jerky motion in the Left4dead gameplay videos caused by the dual analog controls was disturbing.

Maybe he meant the footage he has seen looks better in the sense that it looks like it'll be a better game? Or maybe he meant it "style-wise"?

Either one of those or no, he's not talking about the same game, I guess :P

Footage, style, depth, gameplay.  Everything.  The Grinder is going to give you a deep experience (RPG elements, an economy, etc.).

Whoa, I thought for a second there that the thread was being reduced to saying that "Valve sucks" or something of the sort.

I'm glad ya'll moved along.

Wow i hope you were kidding. Valve is one of the most talented developers in existence. Everything they make requires effort which is more than can be said for many studios...

Like their ultra cool source engine? How old is that again?

You're right, they should totally do like other studios and launch upgrades of engines under a new name :P

Maybe you're thinking of The Grinder? It's a Left 4 Dead clone developed by High Voltage Software. While Valve expressed interest in working on the Wii, they haven't announced anything.

It should also be noted that their interest on working on the Wii seemed to be in the form of a childrens game and not a FPS like they're known for.

At least that's what i remember Gabe saying in one of the interviews.

Valve is like Epic.  Doing amazing on the systems there on and they're making crazy ass cash and have no reason or need to branch out since they only need to meet the expectations of a few people rather then TONS of stockholders.

They just need to focus on their big money makers (Unreal Engine/Steam) and make games that make their real primary product look good... and rake in more cash then the owners of the company can swim in.

Wii development for them would be more an amusement then a buisness venture i fear.

Most of the games are going multi now. Only Nintendo will keep its licenses for themselves.

97% of games on the Xbox 360 are multi. You can play it on Wii, PS3 or PC.

This is the part where I tell you you're putting way too much stock in HVS, who still haven't released a high quality game. You know -- the sort that Valve is known for. While a L4D with Vampires could indeed be great, I'm not sure what you're basing your comments on. How the heck do you figure that it's going to have better gameplay? Better gameplay while having crippled voice chat, no splitscreen, no versus mode, and probable bland level design given what we saw with TC... yeah, I'm not buying that. If you plan on bringing up dual analog controls, please don't.

Depth? RPG elements? Ugh. Left 4 Dead proved that simplicity can be great thing. Each element in L4D is balanced to make sure nothing is overpowered, and teamwork is central to the whole experience. More depth implemented haphazardly could easily ruin this balance. Based on what you're saying, I'm not even sure you have much experience with L4D, as you seem to think that more is automatically better.

I like ripping apart baseless claims as much as the next guy, but come on. Give me something to work with here.
