I think this is on the money.  Iterative "HD" Wii reissue late next year, making it a soft-relaunch like GBC or DSi.  Slightly upgraded specs (faster chip clocks, more RAM, larger flash drive), dedicated scaler for older Wii games, integrated M+, Wii Sports+Resort pack in, $249.99.  It'll be what Nintendo uses to go up against Natal and Swand, but their next full console shift won't hit until 2012.

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! But isn't HD for the hardcore? No one can tell the difference anyway and it is in no way important to anyone.

While its true that HD graphics aren't important at the moment, that may not always be true, in 3-5 years, it might be more important, in addition, if Nintendo can incorporate HD graphics into a console next gen, while still keeping the price under 250 and having large profit margins, why not?

Actually we heard about this in 2006. I can't find a source today (Very long time ago) but I remember G4Tech reporting that Miyamoto said that Nintendo's next system would no doubt be HD. He was of course replying to questions in regards to Nintendo leaving HD out. He said that the next console would be HD.

Iwata is only confirming what we already knew. Also Nintendo next proccessor was in the works since before Broadway and Hollywood were even complete. Nintendo probubly had an HD system already well in the works considering Miyamoto was already confirming specs for Nintendo's next console way back in 06.

I'm betting the next console will be about 2-3x the PS3 and be in full 1080 resolution. Come packed with HDMI cables as the primary cables and AV as an option for weaker TV's. In the end theirs no doubt that visually the next Nintendo console will hold its own against the 360/PS3 if not the NextBox/PS4!
