If each grid isn't different then all the characters just become mundane generic characters. It killed XII for me cuz I felt like no one was that much different. I like to play with unique characters not blank slates with all the same possibilities.

well characters will have an affinity to certain things, even in FFX for alot of the game lulu was the main black mage, yuna the white mage/summoner & so on.

Its people who grind like mad & want each character to have EVERYTHING who in the end make them "all generic"

Thats not how I play, I do grind, but just enough to get past the bosses.....so for me the characters don't really ever become the same.

Most people play like me.....mega hardcore people grind & get everyone on everything

so S-E does diffrentiate the characters for 70% of the FF13 buyers who will only grind enough to get past bosses.

I'm actually starting to favor systems like this.

4 ≈ One

I just hope it's much, much better than the sphere grid. That thing was AWFUL!

Hmm, sounds good coming from team FFX, since their game was excellent in that aspect... building your character, I mean.

FFX wasn't easy. Remember Penance and Nemesis. I lost on Penance probably over 30 times just because I screwed up my skill rotation and it's easy to do that since the fight lasts 1 hour.

@ zone16, when they say the game was easy, they are not talking about the super super impossible boss.... who isn't even in the American version of the game

Good news!

Penance and the Dark Aeons weren't even that hard, when compared to early FF super bosses xD

The easiest one to me was FFVII, I leveled a group to the max. I remember my Cloud used to hit 9999, and it was pretty easy to kill all the bosses in the storyline. The only challenge i had in matter of battles were the Weapons. And it wasn't because of leveling, but a matter of finding the right strategy.

Weapons in FFVII were pretty easy, since both of them had more than 3 different patterns on how to beat them. Especially Ruby, since he could be paralyzed by a simples item like the Dazers xD.

To me, nothing can beat the sheer difficulty of fighting Omega and Shinryu in Final Fantasy V. You didn't had an overpowered party with overpowered items, you didn't have overpowered spells and summons, you didn't had overpowered exploits. Just your four member party doing 200-400 damage or if you were lucky, 700 damage with a Crit, per hit, while they both had double or even triple turns where they could deal 2000-4000 damage, per hit xD
