-FUCKING LEVELLING, THIS IS A HORRIBLE IDEA. -The sotry of "the classic 4th son of a nobility thrust up to being heir due to everyone dying" is bullshit, this is a mech game, not some sappy RPG game..... -I like them making all mechs valuable and having their ow niche -I'm hating how they are brinnging about the tie when mech's were more valuable than the piltos. Sounds to me like they are using that as a cop out not to make more varied mechs.... -They are also using the story as a cop out for making very few weapons it seems... -They are trying to make a PC mechwarrior game and then fittig it on the 360, that makes me happy
The biggest thing that annoys me is that they keep saying "we don't have a publisher yet so we will see how this flies" which translates to me "we'll make the game play like shit as long as it gets sold." Also MechWarrior's DLC was actually DLC worth purchasing head, shoulders, and torso above what today's DLC is. For now I'm hopeful and disappointed and skeptical still of this move. |
Story first:
Have you ever played a MW game? ALL their stories are like this:
MW1: An heir's family is murdered and the chalice that proves he is the heir is stolen so he's exiled. Now he must take revenge and restore his throne
MW2: Clan Jade Falcon and Clan Wolf start a civil war between the clans to decide if the inner sphere should be spared or invaded
MW3: The player is a lance leader sent to destroy the remnants of the fierce Clan Smoke Jaguar
MW4: The player is a noble and the son of a famed war hero. Your cousin betrays your family and murders your father. You escape to a nearby moon to launch a campaign of revenge on your cousin and reclaim the throne.
See a pattern? Mechwarrior games generally have lots of nobility and clans and other things you might associate with RPG games. This storyline is classic mechwarrior.
About mech more valuable than pilot:
How is that a cop out? It just means losing your mech is a more seroius affair this time round since you don't have many spares lying around
And of course they'll have to wait for a publisher! The budget the publisher sets aside for them completely dictates how much they can afford to put in the game!
Also, Mechwarrior 4's mech packs were so shitty. You got 4 mechs for 13$ which is an outrageous price. And media outlets agree:

As for the levelng. What I like is that it's tied to the class of mech you play so you can specialize in a certain mech and bring a new dynamic to lance vs lance combat kinda like TF2. I don't like CoD4s single slider system (only one way to go, up) so this is better.
