Forums - Nintendo - Are gamers at fault?

The developers and publishers are clearly at fault.  They can't put out a product that's inferior in every way to what they put out on other consoles and expect it to sell.  Third party games are getting better, but that doesn't excuse the half hearted attempts in the past.

Tad overreaction?... maybe in the beginning of this gen, but now?

Not really. Sure there are some good third party titles out there but Madworld was short very very fun but short all the same. The conduit was average and elft me unimpressed overall but I consider it a good effort at least. Now having played DS:E I can honestly say that third parties really don't try nor do they really care about making a great Wii title. That title has got to be the biggest waste of time ever. While I'll talk up Madworld I will do whatever I can to keep people from buying that piece of extraction.

Back on topic. So yes I think no more then ever third parties don't try or want to to try or even risk a great title on the Wii.

Let me ask... how many times it has happened that there its a good/great game for the Wii that nobody knows its comming?. That happens even more in my country, because we never get promotion budget, cause the market is still small.

I help the games that are good in some simple yet usefull way. If someone in the store its going to buy Wii Party Game XYZ or Minigame collection 123, I told them to get at least a GOOD party game.

If a friend doesn't know what games are in the market, I told them about the games that suits their tastes, and I always include some third party options.

I sold 3 extra copies of the conduit, so my friends could play a decent FPS for the Wii (its hard to own more than 1 console), only 1 didn't like it.

I did say third party games are getting better, didn't I?  They still aren't where they need to be though.  Hopefully games like Monster Hunter Tri, F1 2009, Epic Mickey, etc. can turn the final corner.

It always makes me laugh when I hear publishers like EA say Wii owners want something different.  That's not true at all.  What we want is for companies like EA to make quality titles, not Madden 10 with its ridiculous graphics or Dead Space Extraction.  Third parties have it in their head that Wii owners want accessible games, and that's killing them.  The audience on the Wii is diverse -- there is no one size fits all and if a game doesn't work well with accessibility, it shouldn't be accessible.  At least they are starting to put some effort in to the Wii now, so that's a start.  The problem is they can't even comnprehend that some of the titles they put out on the Wii were pure junk, and that's no doubt due to those genious executives who buy in to their developers who tell them the Wii just isn't capable of games at a ceertain level, when the reality is the executives put extreme time constraints and don't want to give them the resources to enable them to do their jobs so the developers say what they have to say and do what they have to do (put out inferior games while saying it's the best the Wii is capable of).

Wait, so let me make sure. You were saying that multiplatform games were inferior to each other right (PS3 vs 360 comparrisons)? And that you think they're getting better, but they're still inferior to every way to what they put on the other console (the console which they made the game look/play best)?

My job is to buy the games I want to play, and play them. Their job is to make me want to buy their game. It's worked out pretty well so far. When it becomes my job to persuade and market their games for them, I expect a check.

First, please notice that I've edited my post since your reply (I just added to it).

People bought the Wii knowing graphics would never be as good as they are on the PS3 and 360 (just like people who bought the PS3 and 360 knew their graphics would never be as good as what's on the PC), but they decided game play mechanics were more important than graphics (that, or they wanted Mario, Wii Fit, etc.).  It was a trade off.  Most of us were expecting the same level of games with good but inferior graphics.  That's not what third parties delivered.  Not even close.

Lets take the CoD series as an example.  CoD 3 had something like two developers working on the project to port the game over.  Even thoug it's pretty amazing what those two people did in the amount of time they had, the game wasn't very good (it was lacking in every category).  Next, we get CoD:WaW, which was a more serious attempt that sold better.  Still, it wasn't quite the same game found on other consoles and the graphics could have been better (but weren't terrible, except for the online).  Now we're getting Modern Warfare, where a serious attempt was made to preserve every aspect of the game possible.  The only problem with it is it's two years late, but it looks like it was close to a first rate effort.  Had this been Modern Warfare 2, I think the effort would have been there in every respect.

So yes, I think third parties are getting better.  I think they are very close to putting out some super high quality titles with the same level of effort that they put in games for other consoles.  Hopefully, games like Monster Hunter Tri will show they've arrived.
