8.5 million units in 1 week or 4.5 million in 1 day, yea that blows halo out of the water. Although it doesn't cost $60 has a much much bigger user base =/

What I want to see is if people bought more HD-DVDs readers for it.
Personally, no matter how awesome HD formats are (I haven't tried them yet, and I'm not sure if my future 32'' HDTV will show much difference), I will probably not buy any of them until the format war is over.

I don't understand, Untamoi - Transformers clearly beat 300 as the top-selling first week next-gen format. It sold 190,000 whereas 300 sold 163,000 on Blu Ray. How is that the same?
Either way, as other's said - what matters if more HD-DVD players sold alongside Transformers.
At 8.3m units of sales, at $20.00 USD a pop, that's only $166 million for the week - Halo 3 greatly topped that. Therefore, Halo 3 still holds the highest sales for media sales in a single week.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
If I had a HD TV and a player, I'd get it just to watch Megan Fox in High Def...

I can't believe how many people would want to sit through this again :P
I'm glad Toshiba got a victory, but Spidey 3 will probably sell way more on BR with a bigger userbase (and it's the kind of movie a lot of Playstation 3 owners will get).
Now I'm wondering (okay, terrified) how well Knocked Up will sell, just to see that one infamous shot in HD.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs
The Blu-Ray version of 300 outsold the HD DVD version 2:1. I wonder how much Blu-Ray version of Transformers would've sold if Paramount had stayed neutral. That type of movie caters perfectly to the ps3 demographic.
There was no denying when I got my Best Buy Xbox 360 HD-DVD deal the first DVD I wanted was Transformers. I had to - and all I can say is wow. I can't wait to see it on my projector.
Megan Fox was the best part of that movie... the rest of it was meh. It was too short and didn't have enough plot or character development of the actual transformers. The fight scenes were okay, but there weren't enough of them and Optimus shouldn't have been 1/10th the strength of Megatron. However, that said, all of Spider-Man 3 made me sick to my stomach. They killed that franchise. Neither of these HD exclusives are going to make me upgrade anytime soon, but I'll at least buy the DVD of Transformers.

I agree with Naznatips, Transformers is pretty good, but spidey 3 was a waste of film. They had the best spidey bad guy ever(venom) and didn't take advantage, I wouldn't even bother "borrowing" it from a friend.
