Did Wii owners think Edge was crap when they scored SMG 10?

I thought, and still think Edge for some reviews are the best while for others use the really bad "point system" that other reviewers use. I like how they used to use an actual scale of 1-10 for their reviews, but for some games, thier scores just don't make sense on this scale. I for one, wouldn't put Super mario galaxy at 10 on an actual scale of 1-10 while I would on a scale of 5-10. It was an amazing game, but the 10 spot is only reserved for probably my top 5 at most. I would have given it a 9 and wouldn't be surprised by an 8. I've also found myself disagreeing with edge more often. It seems they are adopting the 5-10 system that other reviewers are using more and more except for some games, like NSMBwii. I find an issue with this because, I believe if you are going to change something in this case, change it for every game not just most of them then 1 or 2 of them sticking to the old system. So I have issues with their consistency.

And this is reason No. 1254630 to not trust in game reviews anymore.

On a similar but unrelated note, this game is most likely going to get lower scores (for a Nintendo game) simply because all reviewers are going to compare it to Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros on the DS.  And as the law of 'reviews' go, sequels are always reviewed more harshly then the original game that was obsessed over and given an elevated score.  This is why even Mario Galaxy 2 will most likely get lower scores than the original Mario Galaxy, even if its better in all ways.  Just because reviewers will be looking for ways to nit-pick its faults and expecting it to be a whole new game.

And there's just always the simple fact that no Wii game is ever going to get anywhere near a 10 when the XBOX360 and PS3 are around.  If anything, even while the Wii games get better, the scores will just continue to get worse to compensate.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Harsh from EDGE, but they gave Mario Kart Wii 6/10 so f*** them.

Exactly. Always a secuel is competing with its predecesor.

I happen to agree. In my time playing the game multi-player, getting past the tricky parts were incredibly difficult and annoying. Some of the stages I played were defiantly not made more than one person, and were frustrating.

I understand what the reviewers are saying. It's a "too chaotic for one screen" type of thing. For example, playing an FPS with a friend on one screen is certainly more difficult than each of you having your own screen. So it seemingly is as if one person needs to bark out orders to the other players who are f-ing around to try to complete a level.
