Seriously though, not a big deal. I believe there were several review sources gave gave Mario Kart Wii 7s and low 8s and yet it remains my favorite Wii game alongside Smash Bros. There is absolutely nothing that can deter me from buying this game, Mario is my all time favorite series.

Plus many big Wii games that receive low review scores tend to do phenomenal in sales for some odd reason (Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort, Mario Kart Wii, Game Party, Carnival Games, etc..) so maybe this is a good sign for NSMB Wii.

WSR, MKWii and Wii Fit all have metascores in the 80s. =\

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I'm suprised people are suprised at Edge's review.
When it comes to this kind of Wii game, ie 'casual' fun multiplayer, I think Edge uses a 7 point scale.

How in the world do you give Sports resort a lower score than the original Wii sports?

Maybe bacause it's refined motion which in their book deserves minus points. Pay them no mind.

Well, he said review sources, plural, so, I'd assume Metascores would be more relevant than any one reviewer.

Technology-worship on the part of UK gaming elite is the same as FPS-worship on the part of the US gaming elite.

In other words, what those who are writing the reviews and blogs want/like may not necessarily be what everyone else always values.

Will the rest of their review make sense?

I imagine this game will get a few more 7's from the likes of reviewers like this. Obviously there is a strong bias against Nintendo in the gaming media, so it wouldn't be surprising. Most of them will probably blame it on graphics, sound, and the fact that it's a 2d game.

In the end, I expect it to get in the high-80's to low-90's on Game Rankings or Metacritic.

Yeah that didn't make any sense to me, maybe he's talking about how they look sort of 3D-ish, but why would that be a bad thing?
