This after I jumped on the early upgrade for Win 7 Home Premium for $50 several months ago. lol!

Oh well; technically I do need multiple licenses for all my systems. I just wasn't planning on running Win 7 on all of them until I was appropriately impressed with the first.

Technically all you need is a valid school email. Mine worked and I graduated last year.

I think it's only for the upgrade, fresh installs are usually better.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

40$ for Canadians, on the other hand.

But, this is just the upgrade, isn't it?

Take my love, take my land..

There seems to be some confusion on this.

It's a DD purchase so I'm assuming it won't install unless you already have a valid license of Windows on your PC. I'm also thinking that if you happen to have a 32bit version of Windows on your PC that the download installer will automatically install the 32bit version of Win 7, which I'm sure more and more users are not interested in using.

So maybe it's just as well that I pre-purchased a DVD install disk back in the summer.

I posted this awhile back from a Windows7News article onto VGChartz...and yes, Europeans get the same deal. This deal is only valid until January 3rd 2010.

No, you can buy the 32-bit or 64-bit version of either Home Premium or Professional. Since they're the 'upgrade' versions, you don't get both 32-bit and 64-bit. I picked up the professional version.

However, they kind of botched the launch of it. I guess they weren't expecting a lot of people to want to upgrade from a 32-bit version of windows to a 64-bit version. Instead of offering an ISO, you'd download a couple files and their software would unpack it and if you were unpacking the 64-bit version on your 32-bit version of Windows, it would fail. There's a work around though so you can create an ISO from the unpacked files after it fails and it worked for me to put it on a DVD.

The other issue I had was that it wouldn't accept my product key. However, apparently you can get around that by not typing in a product key and it'll be in a trial mode. Thus, I was able to go back to the installation and do the same exact thing again (reformat and reinstall) and this time it accepted the key.

Odd bit of juggling, but good to know that eventually it works.

Good since a student in my class was asking about Win 7 but he's currently using 32bit and wants to switch to 64bit to allot more memory for Maya.

So you have to burn an ISO onto DVD, install off that, leave the product key blank, start over again with a clean reformat/install and then it works.
