Shigeru Miyamoto has made some pretty incredible video game experiences, many of which will go down as the best video games of all time. But that doesn't mean he hasn't been disappointed with the reaction to some of his games. In a recent interview, I asked the Mario creator if there were any titles which didn't quite have the public support that he would've expected at their release:

 "I tend to forget those games [laughs]. I'm a big fan of the 'Star Fox' games. Every time we make a 'Star Fox' game I'm hoping people will enjoy it as much as I do. Of course the goal every time is to try and make it more and more fun but, at least in Japan, the people that purchase the 'Star Fox' games has decreased over the years. But we still try to make them more fun and hopefully people will see the appeal in those games."

So, in case you're wondering if Nintendo will ever return to the true 3rd person flight sim roots of "Star Fox," just keep in mind that there's someone very high up in the ranks that wants nothing more than to see folks do a barrel roll.

so basically no Star Fox game for Wii yet?

Either way, I hope they suceed and eventually make a Starfox title that's more fun than any before it and it gets the sales and reception it deserves.

Well, we can only buy it if you make it, huh Nintendo?

If it's not what Retro Studios is working on, i bet that that will be the next project for one of the three free EAD groups, alongside Pikmin 3 and Wii Vitality.

Lylat Wars was so freaking amazing. Thank you, Miyamoto, for that game. Pure arcade-like fun with depth and replayability in spades. I don't know how you and your team did it, but I'm glad you did.

I find it sort of odd that Miyamoto would choose StarFox as the example considering Adventures was done by Rare and never intended as a StarFox title and Assualt was done by Namco. Sure I bet Nintendo had alot of input in Assualts design but in the end Miyamoto was not incharge of its development.

I would have expected him to use Donkey Kong considering JungleBeat failed and Miyamoto was more directly involved in Donkey Kong's games on the GameCube.

But on the flipside this shows that Miyamoto still cares about StarFox and that could lead to another game in the foreseeable future!

I want F zero so badly ... there hasnt been an F zero is like 5 years or more!!! .... last one was GX on gamecube, which was just bliss with the help of sega's arcade racing excellence.

bring F zero to DS at least ... Im waiting
