Resident Evil 4 inspired the design Gears of War took. Uncharted was inspired by the design of Tomb Raider and Gears of War. That about says it.

We can't really say which was better for it's time without coming to an agreement about criteria used to determine it, but as far as which was more influential, obviously RE4 is and I think will continue to be. I haven't really seen any games get inspired by either of the Uncharted games yet.

RE4 ruined Resident Evil for me, so UC2 by a good mile.

Well, to be fair, Uncharted 2 is much more than just a "good game'. It is huge too, particularly because of when it hit, right after a price cut and system revision. However, it isn't a game changer quite like RE:4 was in the previous gen.

Game changer? RE4 did nothing for the GameCube, and actually sold more as a late port on PS2.

Anyway, just to be a rebel, I'll say Uncharted 2.

I wasn't talking about sales. It sold more on the PS2 for obvious reasons but was not received as well as the Gamecube version. It also has, so far, paved the way for future titles (Gears of War, Dead Space). Uncharted 2, as of now, hasn't done that yet for obvious reasons.

Everything isn't always about sales.

Ah, game changer in that sense.

RE4 was not the first TPS, not by a LONG way. Certainly not the first TPS with cover, either.

Resident Evil 4 was pretty cool, i played it 5 times through, the last run finished in 2,30 hours. :)

Re4 and 5 may be bad Resident Evil games, but still good action games.. the biggest pissoff was RE5.. its not 'a fear you cant forget', as the box says, its just an action game without any Shocking Moments. :(

after all, i hope they'll kinda make something like they wanted with RE4 at first with the sixth part.

IMO, RE1>RE2>>RE3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>RE4>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>RE5 in terms of quality, it's been declining since it's inception.

However 1-3 were all solid games, where as 4 was a massive drop off. 5 is just plain terrible.

In terms of influence definitely RE4. Every 3rd person Action game has used the over the shoulder camera view when aiming a gun which was established with RE4.

Quality however, RE4 was a personal disappointment for me. I really like the camera view but hated the more action style gameplay.

Uncharted 2 is a good game. It doesn't do anything new or revolutionary but what it does it does it very well.

i have yet to play uncharted 2. i love resident evil 4 though. i bought about 2 years back because i remembered what people told me about it. completely turned my world upside down when i first played it. i never cared much for the resident evil franchise before this game and now when i see its gameplay, i could never play them. i'm used to the more fast paced style. i don't know how it took me over 2 years to finally play it, but it was phenomenal. i've beaten it more than ten times since then. to me, it is just plain good even when compared to the most current games coming out (with the exception of gears of war 1, that's my other obsession for the past few years). i'm sure that uncharted 2 is great and all, but for now, resident evil 4 gets my vote

Can't compare, but I do know that RE:4 on the Wii was one of the most enjoyable games I ever played.

It is easier to look back and see just how great RE4 was. It is harder now to see whether or not Uncharted 2 will stand out as one of the great games of its time.

In my opinion I think Uncharted 2 will stand out as one of the very best
