With movies likes transformers I'm starting to get a little worried about Blu-Ray's future.

HD DVD has Transformers and the Bourne Trilogy. Blu-Ray has the Spiderman trilogy, the Pirates of the Carribean trilogy, the Die Hard trilogy, and the new Bond movies. I don't think Blu-Ray has much to worry about.

There's a lot more exclusives than that on both sides. I don't keep track of Blu-Ray, but off the top of my head, I know the Matrix movies, the Batman movies, the Terminator movies, Jurassic Park, and the Shrek movies will all be HD-DVD exclusive.

I don't think any movies should be exclusive, personally. I think the film distributors picking one over the other is a lot more about 'office politics' than any actual preference for a particular format. And honestly, I don't believe either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray is going to flourish before we see something else. Both are the minidiscs of the new generation.

The Matrix is made by Warner, and is coming to Blu-Ray in early '08. As for Jurassic Park, Spielberg won't let any of his films be released on HD DVD at this point in time. Twice Unviersal has listed films like Jurassic Park as future releases, and twice Universal hasbeen forced to issue a retraction by Spielberg. Also, Spielberg's films were specifically excluded from the Paramount/Dreamworks exclusivity deal.

In general, Blu-Ray has more exclusive films than HD DVD.

Studios declared exclusive support for whichever side they felt had a better chance of winning. They did this to help further along that side to victory, because they knew a format war would slow HDM adoption overall. A format war makes people scared to buy into either format out of fear of losing their investment. The sooner this war is over, the better for HD in general.

Did you know that Warner and Paramount were both HD DVD exclusive studios until just prior to HD DVD's launch? They went neutral at the last minute because of Blu-Ray's vastly superior CE support. They didn't want to bet everything on the lone horse Toshiba.

Its also not the number of exclusives but the popularity of what exclusives you have.

"""So the best ever first-day HD disc sales are still only 2% of the overall first-day sales of the movie. Yea HD formats are really taking off."""
