I saw this on a thread at some other website. Some guy dat works at a shop and some willing buyers posted some stuff:http://www.nintendoeverything.com/?p=7392

To what extent do you think this has affected hardcore games selling on  the wii?

COD WAW Wii is a million seller now and wii is getting COD MW because of it so I 'm confuse about you mean and why are using an article from 2008 ?

If the demand is there, people will figure out a way to get it so a short term lack of suply shouldn't hurt overall sales that much, if at all.  WaW Wii had well over one million sales.  Not great by CoD standards, but far from bad (especially when you concider the lower cost of Wii development).

CoD5 sales were hurt by Activision themselves.  Had Activision put the entire game on the Wii and made the game look better (the graphics were pretty bad), it would have sold much more.  Maybe not 360, PS3, or PC levels, but still very well (probably closer to the two million mark).  Now they are giving us a two year old game, and even though the game should be much better than the Wii version of WaW (better graphics, includes everything possible), the simple fact that it's two years old and there are no real screens, trailers, gameplay vids, or advertising means the Modern Warfare Wii sales will be, once again, hurt by Activision themselves.  Perhaps they will get it right with CoD7, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

to be fair I have never seen a copy of Murumasa in any store, but I doubt the effect is really widespread

Lousy retail support is a major issue for a lot of Wii games. Wii owners aren't much for pre-ordering, which is the main factor retailers use to decide how much stock to order. The result is a launch month shortage of a particular game, and customers either buy something else (contributing to the long tail of other games) or go home frustrated.

It was certainly a factor in WaW's slow launch on the Wii, and has quite possibly reduced the lifetime sales of that game (imagine customers who can't find WaW grabbing CoD3 instead...).

I still can't believe that the Wii version of this game it's at its original price, the 360 and PS3 versions are at 50 and are going down with the release of Modern Warfare 2. I will not buy this game for U$50 when its missing so many options versus the HD versions.

Funny that it can last that way with all the mission options.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
