Heheh j/k, if you discovered you don't really like 360 that much and maybe harbor some resentment, then get PS3 or Wii, you can still optionally fix the 360 later on, by official MS personnel or look for someone who can fix it, Google "360 rrod repairs", there are RROD repair kits and youtube videos.

Now that we are down to PS3 and Wii, PS3 seem to suit you more because you are a movie buff, check out this forum Blu-Ray and 720p - (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1267379) : down scaled blu-ray to 720p are better looking than upscaled DVDs.

Judging by your game taste and the fact that you do like movies ... PS3 is probably the best bet for you.

In my opinion, and this is going by my own tastes and view of the 'console wars', the Wii is getting the most 'exclusives' this gen. The PS3 is starting to get a lot of ports of the games 360 already had this gen, with enhancements.  Stuff like Star Ocean 4, Tales of Vesperia, etc.  So depending on which way you go, 'HD' or 'Wii', pick one of those two.

In my honest opinion, if you had the money, buy both. I only have a Wii because I don't have a lot of money. Or else I'd also have a PS3.

Of course, in the end, you should have a DS before anything.

Movie Buff = PS3
You say FPS isnt youre favorite genre so id assume Halo wouldnt be a selling point.
You like UC more than Gears so that comparison goes to the PS3.
FFV13 is important to you = PS3

I was sorrt of in the same boat as you. I had a 360 that died twice on me. I went with a PS3 and since i own over 80 BD's, the gaming content is becoming if not has already become equal so it was an easy choice for me.

Just to clear up a few things:

The 360 getting superior multiplats is uncommon now. Usually, there's no significant difference between the two versions. You say that Tomb Raider, Geometry Wars, and BioShock were your favourites on 360: Two are available on PS3, and the other has a few similar games on PS3.

As for God of War, you know you can just look up a walkthrough for the puzzles, right? Not that they're difficult. Put in a bit of thought, and they become really simple.

Since you don't have a Blu-ray player, and you are a film buff, get the PS3. And get God of War Collection when you do.

Up from now, the ps3 is the best choice. It has the future on its side thanks to the bluray. Even now a lot of ps3 games are impossible to develop for the 360. And in the last months the ps3 has shown its clear advantage thanks to exclusives like uncharted 2, killzone 2 and even mgs4, and of course futur games like gt5 are simply better than 360 exclusives will be. I see no reason to buy the 360, maybe because of the multiplatform games which are often better but this is secondary and unimportant, because of the very little differences. And the online gaming on ps3 is the same as on xbox and it's free!

I want to add that i have the 360 and the ps3. the 360 had better games in the beginning up to few months ago, but now the ps3 is clearly the better choice.

I have a Xbox360 and a Wii. And I prefer the Wii. A friend has PS3 and Wii and like both.

In the end ... it's your decision. The best combo for gamers is PC+Wii.

First: There's no doubt that all 3 systems are worth their money, it all depends on taste obviously.

If you can afford two systems now, get a Wii and a PS3.

If you cannot afford two systems now, but maybe at a later time, get a PS3 now and a Wii later.

If you can afford only one system now and in the future, get a PS3.
(This recommendation is based on what you said in your OP, which implies that you are more excited about what the PS3 has to offer compared to the Wii).
