Oh yeah - I really liked No More heroes too. My sister-in-law actually enjoyed it quite a lot, which was surprising.

Can I? sure.
MGS4 - an amazing, epic, experience.
Valkyria Chronicles - excellent SRPG that I got before I even ahd the console
Ratchet and Clank games - excellent gameplay, signature, excellent humour. No other platformer compares in my eyes.
Uncharted - Adventure made cinematic and thrilling.
Demon's Souls - one of the best RPG experiences, or so I hear. Still don't have a copy =/
and so on and so on. Others can add, I'm too lazy.

This is against the spirit of the topic in many, many ways. "Which system has the best games" does not mean "which system doesn't have the worst games," nor does it mean "which system's library when taken as a mean average on Metacritic comes out with the highest rating". @Torillian: You mention story-heavy games as important to you. Which games on the Wii have you played that would fit that category? I assume your collection is by no means complete. |
Well as is probably obvious RPG's are a big part of that to me, so good story driven games would probably be something like Little King's Story. I tried Radiant Dawn and didn't like the story enough to put up with the difficulty at some point (forget when I gave it up), and ToS2 just wasn't all that good (probably on the level of Eternal Sonata). All the classic Nintendo stuff that I've bought hasn't been too story heavy: Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, and played a portion of SMG with the exception being Zelda which I played a while but didn't finish. It could easily be because I don't search out story heavy games on the Wii because I don't look into the games on the Wii as much. Once you get a preference of console it becomes kind of a self fulfilling prophecy since you'll care more about games that come out for that console and therefore it'll seem like that console gets more good games.

I don't think my mind will change. For every Wii game I want to try but haven't gotten aroud to renting, there are 5 PS3 games in the same boat. |
I'm not asking you for the purpose of proving a point, it's more out of curiosity: I likewise think that your min probably wouldn't change, I'm just curious. Have you considered that those may not be the Wii games best-suited to your tastes, or do they form the best of the system in your eyes?
For me, it would be the 360. And so you won't bother me about it (sometimes it's better to just let people disregard your thread rules), I'll explain why.
This generation, the 360 has provided me with the most fun. I'll start with why I didn't like the PS3 and Wii as much. With the PS3, I just haven't experienced enough of it yet. I only have 2 games, and whenever I go to buy more games, the shelves are poorly stocked and I just buy 360 games instead. I could deliver by Amazon, but I vastly prefer walking into Best Buy's pristine isles.
As for the Wii, it's disappointed me on several accounts. Super Paper Mario belongs to one of my favorite series of all time, Paper Mario, but completely strays from what made the other games great. I wanted an RPG, not a platformer that's light on RPG elements. Super Smash Bros. Brawl was fun for a while, but after hyping the damn game for years, it disappointed me massively. Seriously, I hyped this game up with my friends for a long time, read every site update, and flocked to forums over every menial announcement, and it just failed to meet the hype. And the same thing happened for Super Mario Galaxy. While I enjoyed the game greatly, it in no way matches its acclaim.
And that brings me to the 360. The 360 had the least anticipation for me when I bought it (I didn't like the original Xbox much at all), and it really surprised me. Bioshock had a great atmosphere and story, and it was fun to customize my weapons. Halo 3 had as boring of a campaign as the other games, but I spent hundreds of hours online. Gears of War 2 had not only a great single player but some very fun online, as well as Horde mode (which got boring quickly, but was fun for a couple weeks). Throw in some really great exclusives and just about every multiplatform, and you're looking at a system with a very complete library. It really seems to give a whole range of genres and experiences, and I never have trouble finding out what games to buy for it. Add in a great online system and a comfy controller, and you've got yourself a really great system.
Okay, hopefully I fulfilled your requirements.

Actually, explaining your position isn't explicitly in the thread rules, I just like getting people to explain because it helps me (and sometimes them) understand their position.

I get that, it's just that you should be more of a courteous thread creator and just let people have their stupid opinions if they want to.
| Khuutra said: I understand this topic may not be particularly fair to single-console owners, but have you had any experience at all with the Wii or 360? |
I can only refer to the Wii as reference, but I'll try to do what little comparison I can.
Now, these are the Wii games I have played: Wii Sports and Boom Blox. And then there are certainly a fair few games I would like to try out. MadWorld, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (once it releases), No More Heroes, SMG, Okami, Rabbids Go Home and Punch-Out!!
Now, those games are chosen the same way I choose what games I should spend my time on for my PS3, but they are also the only games on the Wii have found to be of interest. It's not 100% complete, I haven't combed through the Wii games library enough to be sure, but over all, those seven games don't match very well up to Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time, Modern Warfare 2, Brütal Legend and Batman: Arkham Asylum, seven games that I have purchased or will purchase from the last half of 2009, alone. Followed by the first half of 2010, which will give me another seven games (if all goes without great delays) God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, Just Cause 2, Final Fantasy 13, Ape Escape and hopefully, a release of Demon's Souls. Otherwise I'll just import.
I really hope the Wii will 'get up to speed' so to speak, but I don't have much faith in that anymore.
The reality of it is , it's a personal choice, thus there is no such thing as which console has the best games.
Only one thing is a fact 48 million people have played Wiisports, thus making it the most important game this Gen since it reached more people than another game.

Judging from personal experience (nothing else matters) I have to say Wii. Maybe I have disturbing tastes but that's how it is.
Wii has Metroid Prime 3. Actually, Wii has Metroid Prime Trilogy. Wii has Super Metroid as well.
Wii has Super Mario Galaxy, plus Mario classics such as SMB3, SMBW, SM64 and SMRPG.
Wii has Ogre Battle!
Wii has Zack & Wiki.
Wii has Zack & Wiki. (Yes, Z&W deserves to be mentioned twice)
Wii has Wii Sports. Yes, I like Wii Sports. I have never had that much fun with a "demo" before.
