Forums - Gaming - Which current-gen console has the best games?

I don't own a 360 and although there are some games that interest me or others I've played with friends it has yet to be enough to get me to buy the console especially when I hear more of the games are coming over to the ps3 castle crasher and I think I've heard braid as well. The games that I'm missing out on that I would like to play are Left 4 dead and mass effect although I'll probably just get the pc versions. Fable 2 I'm hoping will have a pc version. I'm not interested in Halo or Gears or Foroza (or gran torismo on the ps3) or splinter cell. There are future games that will come out that might interest me as well but it still hasn't been enough for me to get a 360.

I have a wii and there are some games I enjoy (brawl, smg, some of the rabbids games and other games I plan to get for it zak and wiki, de blob, world of goo, zelda, epic mikey plus many more some I'm sure will be great but those aren't going to match up to what I have and I'm looking forward to on the PS3.
Uncharted 1&2, Ratchet and Clank, infamous, little big planet, flower, pixel junk eden and pixel junk monster and fat princess make me really happy to have the system. Still haven't play Mgs4 yet waiting to play the first 3 first. Plus games to come like God of war 3, the last guardian, heavy rain. Then multyplatform games like batman, gta4, bioshock, dead space, Dragon Age origins, assassins creed( hope the next one is better) Final fantasy 13 and many more.

well...even though the ps3 is my favourite console, I dunno if I'd claim that it has the best games (taking into account present and future games). Really, I'd say the 360 and ps3 are very close to each other. There are games that I love my ps3 for, and even though I don't have a 360...mass effect 2, L4D 1 & 2, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell conviction, fable 2 & 3, gears of war 1 & 2, banjo kazooie, crackdown 1 & 2, and probably more really make the 360 on par with the ps3 at least in terms of games. However, at least at the moment, I do feel ps3 exclusives seem to be of a better standard (e.g., uncharted 2, killzone 2).

So, 360 + ps3 neck and neck. And the wii is trailing behind, WAY behind. It's certainly got better this year with 3rd parties offering up more (quality) support but the wii still suffers a deficiency in top games - just look at metacritic for evidence.

Pretty much what okr said. The reason why Xbox360 is not appealing for me is due to the fact that I can play majority of it's games on PC (I was PC gamer for over 17 years now, I started consoles year ago) and usually in better quality with more options.

I've allways known the main series or famous games from Nintendo and Sony platforms, Xbox came too late for me to take any notice of it (In my country atleast, 99% ppl never heard about it, yet everyone know the brand Playstation and Nintendo (ofc they know Microsoft, just not Xbox)).

This gen PS3 is my main choice, it's games are most appealing to me, they have most and highest rated exclusive titles. Wii is my choice when it comes to local multiplayer, yet I'm somehow disappointed with the game offering, imho not enough quality and appealing titles. DSi is my handheld of choice, as it's game library is incredible, atleast for me. I might buy PSP in the future, I'm huge fan of Metal Gear Solid series + Gran Turismo also looks great. But no Xbox for me this generation, there isn't single game I'd like to play, which I couldn't get to on PC.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

I realized that I didn't mention downloadable games at all in my original post at all. On reflection however, all I can say is that I think the PSN has some great games and I don't really know what XBLA and WW/VC offer of interest (though I am very happy to see Braid making its way to PSN).

All right, now this one is for Carl and Outlawauron both:

What would make these high-selling games (like Carnival Games) "trash"?

Because after playing it for 5 minutes i felt embarassed to actually be playing it. The novelty of it wears off in about 2 minutes.

Wii "minigames" are supposed to be fun. This isn't. My sister actually cried that she got this for her Birthday.

Therefore, imo it is trash.

But you acknowledge, of course, that it will not be trash for some of its players - many of whom may number it among their favorite games.

If anyone puts carnival games towards the top of the list of their favorite games they shouldn't be allowed to touch a video game controller ever again. Seriously go outside and play tennis, kickball, dodgeball, darts, etc that the Wii supposedly "recreates" with the motion controller. Its infinitely more fun to actually do it yourself plus you don't have to pay $50 to do it. The Wii sucks. My girlfriend is as casual as it gets and she thinks the Wii sucks. She's putting it up on Ebay in the next week or so. She does mysteriously like Gears of War but doesn't much like the other games I play on the 360.

People should play what they want and what they consider fun and worthwhile. Anything else is wrong.

Video games are supposed to be an extension of the imagination and fantasy. If you can convince me why I should play motion controlled versions of things I can do in real life for free then I will go buy a Wii after class today. Until then I'm convinced the Wii is a fad and gimmick that will be dying more and more as time passes. I'm not bashing Nintendo, I'm bashing what the Wii has become. I love the NES and SNES.

If that's what video games are for you then that's one thing, but for some one else a video game may just be about having fun.

And why should I play a game were I travel to a fantasy world and run around killing aliens when I can lay in my bed and just imagine it all for free.

The X360 cos it's got Oblivion and Fable II. Plus it's got Alan Wake coming up which is my most anticipated game.

PS3 fans will say ps3 games,360 fans will say 360 games

but i will say both consoles have great games in their own prespective.
