Forums - Nintendo - Ign's review of guilty gear accent core wii release, very unprofessional

Classic controller is optional. Guilty Gear was designed with "Classic controls" anyway, so I'm not surprised the Wiimote sucks. But I already have 2 CCs so I'm good.

But the point is, people are going to buy the game, try it with default controls, then say "um, these controls suck" and stop playing it. You can remind them that there's an optional control scheme that makes the game much, much better-- but they have to pay for it. Most people won't do that.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

And that Guitar Hero argument is crap...it is designed to be specifically used with the Guitar Hero guitars...a regular controller would still function, but it's not the standard or even mentioned that it can be used.

Here, Wiimote+nunchuck is pretty much the standard, especially considering it's the new control option compared to the Classic and GC options, which don't change the game at all. They reviewed this game based on the changes made from the PS2 version, and the changes suck. If you want to play with the alternate control options, they gave you the PS2 review to read and judge, because it's then the same game.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

but this is the only game that they have reviewed in such a manner, metal slug, mortal kombat armageddon both were reviewed and scored based on the best possible situation which compenstated for the option to use classic controller or the gamecube controller, and I'm sure if smash bros has some sort of odd ball wii remote controls the score won't reflect that, part of professionalism is consistency this game was reviewed differently and the only time it was scored as based soley on the wii remote controls, which is inconsitent with over reviews on the site and their for unprofessional

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well most of wii owners probably have a classic controller or a gamecube controller

Well fine, boycott IGN's reviews then.

Go read...1up or something. They are just videogames, after all...no need to go crazy. I still think IGN's the best place to read reviews.

Boycotting review sites. You're making too big a deal about this. I don't like IGN's reviews either (9.0 Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball? *pukes*) so I read Gamespot. But many VGChartz readers claim Gamespot is also "biased." Uhoh?

Every review site is biased.

If you don't understand that, then go read metacritic or gamerankings. They're still biased (based on which websites they use) but they have much less bias.

I read the review hoping it would break out into an insane fanboy rant at some point, and was deeply disappointed. If I was a casual gamer and got this for the Wii, I would be extremely pissed to find out the controls are awful and I would have gotten the exact same game on the PS2 - but with a functioning controller.

But since I'm hardcore and my friends already have multiple copies of guilty gear, I'll just pass it up.

If anything, I would say that the review is biased in favor of the Wii. I see no reason why a game that is essentially a PS2 port should have a graphics or presentation score that high.

As far as guitar hero goes, it's blatantly obvious to everyone that you need a guitar peripheral to play it. It's even in the title. That's not the case here.

@masschamber:

Sorry, but I read the reviews of the games you mentioned (Naruto, MK:A, MSA) and none of them specifically state that the Classic or Gamecube controllers are basically required for enjoyment.  In fact, a couple reviews even suggested that the motion-sensing features were a unique and valuable addition.  Further, Metal Slug Anthology doesn't even support the Classic Controller at all, and generally had every incarnation of its control setup criticized as being somewhat less than ideal.
