Forums - Nintendo - Crystal Bearers developer: Selling on Wii will not be easy.

One semi-bad (but not show stopper to sales) point:

Square Enix: The first play through will be about 15 hours, which may seem short, but considering it uses the Wii remote, it seemed like the appropriate length of time. You can also play a second round with the clear data, which we definitely recommend, but to play every single element of the game, 2 rounds may not even be enough!

How exactly does haveing the Wiimote as a controller serve as a neccesity to shorten the games entirety? If the fact that some Wiimote motions tire some people, causeing short individual play times, is what they mean, then it still has nothing to do with how long the game should be. TP had some heavy waggle, and it was damn near 60hours long.

Destructoid: Third parties have had mixed luck in bringing their "hardcore" franchises to the Wii. What do you think it takes to make a traditional action/adventure game on the Wii a success?

Square Enix: Of course we would love to succeed, but seeing the current Wii market, it will be no easy feat.

Seems that EA/Visceral aren't the only ones complaining about the Wii 3rd party market. Will people hate Square Enix now?

*facepam* then dont make a core game. Is that simple? 3rd parties dont need to make a core game. its Nintendo who will do it for the fanbase. I think 3rd parties already feel left out in the moment on the Wii. Seem Ninty wants third parties to make everything they want not realizing Nintendo wants third party games to be a filler while gamers are waiting for the next Nintendo published game. its a fool proof plan if you ask me...

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

Him saying it will be hard is a good thing. It shows that he is not taking sales for granted.

I LOVE ICELAND!

they have ahd two Wii Ware hits with this series, I think they will do fine, plus its a series thats already on Wii (albeit with a DS port)

So you actually want less core games on the Wii? strange thing to ask for if you are a Wii owner. The next Nintendo core game is NSMB Wii, the last one was Animal Crossing Wii I think which released almost one year before NSMB Wii is coming out. So you basically want one core title a year?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Because your arm might hurt lol

I do not understand why the man was stupid enough to say that....seriously the average FF consumer isn't a 4 year old child who may get tired of moving the wiimote around!

Having read the entire interview, this question-and-response just does not seem to fit well. I am not sure if there was a disconnect or what, but something seems to be lost in translation compared to the other questions, which tended to have much longer answers from S-E.

And S-E manages to get people to buy $8-$10 WiiWare games, and then purchase another one or two times that amount in DLC -- so it has a good track record of making money on the Wii.

It will be all right. Time to file a pre-order.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

the game is called Final Fantasy, of course it will sell. Now Selling a million, or more than previous CC games, that is the hard part.

I agree cutting length of a game for wii remote is a lame excuse. I hope this 15hours does not include cinematics, otherwise people will be pissed off.

you give people crap you sell like crap.

If the game is advertised right it should do fairly well.
