Forums - Nintendo - EA to blame customers for Dead Space sales instead of themselves.

This game could've easily outsell the conduit and madworld. They had the money and power to put it as a FPS or TPS have a good muiltiplayer and online get better hype because wii owners will fell great about getting the excluesive and will get better reviews. Madworld and the conduit both had 1 problem and 1 good thing. The conduit wan's a niche. Madworld was. Madworld got good reviews. Conduit didn't. Combine both of their sales. over half a million. If they were smart. They should've learned from past mistakes.

but look at the sales of rail shooters on wii

ghost squad 0.59
The House of the Dead: Overkill 0.40
The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return 1.09
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles 1.30

---------------------------------------------------------
= 3.38 million

RE:DC will probably bring it past 4 million

Resident Evil has a huge fanbase so its obvious that it will hit a million

really?  Why don't you tell that to the ps1 and ps2 because they couldn't do it.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Guys, I gotta say, your excuses are pretty lame. Umbrella Chronicles and House of the Dead were both on rails shooters for the Wii, and they both sold over a million. Additionally, both games got much worse reviews than Dead Space: Extraction, so quality certainly isn't a factor. Perhaps being an on rails shooter disappointed a lot of people. But even that wouldn't result in the incredibly low level of sales it has.

There are genres out there that there is a demand for multiple games a year by a large portion of the userbase, but most genres tend to have a smaller userbase which demands games less regularly. While I don't think that on-rails shooters have the smallest userbases or the least regular demand, it is one of the smaller genres and most fans of the genre probably wouldn't buy more than one game a year.

With that in mind, with Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, House of the Dead 2&3, House of the Dead: Overkill, Link's Crossbow Training, NERF N-Strike, and Ghost Squad the Wii already has seen more enough on-rails shooters to satisfy the demand of most of the potential market for the generation; and the inclusion of Dead Space Extraction and Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles (and any additional on-rails shooters) are likely going to see more disapointing sales regardless of quality.

The thing that is difficult to understand with most of these games is that there are far more popular genres that tend to see more regular demand from their customers which have had very few quality releases on the Wii that publishers are ignoring ... At times you have to wonder if certain publishers are trying not to satisfy their customers on the Wii to encourage them to buy a HD console in order to consolidate the market in one place.

Very interesting point you bring to the table here. Definitely worth exploring and maybe its own thread. I've been circulating thoughts such as these for a while now. Because it certainly isn't a case of marketshare as Wii is by far the most successful console this gen, yet it is still getting largely piss poor support.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I didn't really think EA were blaming the consumers, the only quote i heard was "it's a shame DSE isn't selling".

Regardless, if EA looks to blame the consumers rather than themselves they will, with the exception of a couple of their major franchises, continue to meet with failure on the Wii and that's a piece of pie they don't want to be missing out on.

This article is ridiculous. Are they suggesting that EA needs the support of the Wii userbase more than the userbase needs EA support? Maybe they live in a fantasy world where the money EA makes on the quasi-HD systems is not enough to survive.

Do some research. They've been reporting loses. The HD consoles aren't enough to survive for EA.

I'd invite you to take a look at this page, in particular the little figure next to the words 'net income' in the box on the right hand side.

I'm not saying the Wii userbase doesn't need or want EA Sports but to say that EA doesn't need all the profit they can get at the moment.....

I need to make it more obvious when I am being sarcastic.

Yeah, the web can't exactly convey that well. Unless you are as skilled as Rol at written irony, use a wink emoticon.
