For people thinking the PS3 is going to make this miraculous comeback and overtake the 360, keep in mind the 360 has outsold the PS3 more weeks than the PS3 has outsold 360. It is not like the PS3 has been closing the gap week by week since the thing came out. PS3 only seems to outsell it when something really significant like a AAA title or price drop hits PS3, but during a "normal" week, 360 usually beats it.

So for PS3 to ever catch 360 worldwide, it would not only have to reverse that trend, but it would have to outsell it by quite a large margin on a regular basis for it to even make a significant difference this generation. And what happens during the inevitable future weeks mixed in where the 360 outsells PS3 again? Then it becomes even HARDER for the PS3 to make up the ground.

If (and that's a BIG if) the PS3 finally ever does reach 360's sales, this gen will be over and everyone will have likely moved on to their next consoles, so it'll be largely irrelevant anyway. 7 million consoles is no small amount we are talking here... I think best case scenario for PS3 is it ends up in a virtual tie with Xbox 360. Sony is certainly pushing their PS3 now and starting to make a comeback, but it's simply too little too late.

I believe Sony pulled out all the stops to bring out the PS3 slim, which means they won't have many options left anymore from this point on. MS on the other hand still haven't run out of options yet. The situation is that whether or not MS is ready to sacrifice profit, especially in this economy.

1 million more PS3s sold than XBox 360 in only 8 weeks since the launch of the PS3 Slim. Around 125,000 more PS3 Slims sold than XBox 360 every week for the last 8 weeks. A further 10 weeks of sales to close out 2009 and the PS3 should outsell the XBox 360 by 2 to 3 million console units over the next 10 weeks. PS3 Slim will outsell XBox 360 between 3 to 4 million units for the last four months of 2009.

The gap between PS3 and XBox 360 will be between 3 and 4 million units by end of 2009. Continuous sales momentum in 2010 with PS3 game launches including: God of War 3, MAG, Gran Turismo 5 and FFXIII, etc will guarantee the PS3 smashes the XBox 360 in console sales.

PS3 Slim is going to guarantee PS3 outsells the XBox 360 this generation. Second place will be PS3 in 2010. I predict PS3 will overtake the XBox 360 by July 1, 2010.

The Ps3 beat the 360 for almost a year before the 360 dropped its price... some of those weeks obviously had to be normal weeks... and the amount the 360 has sold since the ps3 has launched is only at like 500k now... that'll disapear this year and the total units sold since both have been out will favor the ps3.

well from what we are sering yes it seems lik for the next 2 years SONY has the upper hand over M$, ps3's line up next year is immense its stronger than thsi or last years, and it starts on the holidays in japan thats when final fantasy bee relelased, that will seel around 200k ps3s allone, if not more, then there is gt 5 wich will proabaly oos sales for the ps3 to around 500k consoles WW on its relelase, then there is Gow Of War 3 wich will just polvarise the compittion, then there will be final fantasy versus, wich will again pulvarise the compitition, then we are proabably going to get uncharted late next yer, if not early 2011, then resisitance 3, little big planet 2, the next ratchet and clank game, metal gear solid rising will kill it in japan for the ps3, sam goes for mgs rising in europe for the ps3, in NA it will be pretty close but the ps3 will have the upperhand, well becuase most ps3 owners in america will buy it and SONY will obvously bundle it wth a new MSG console wich well seel around 200k consoles plus. then the ps3 has the wand, wich is more appealing to csual gamer then natal (LOOK AT THE WII, IT DOSENT HAVE A CAMERA IT HAS A WAND), people will see that and buy the ps3 for there kids and to play the epic exlusives on the PS3, sure 360 might have gears of war 3(WICH WILL BE EPIC, I LOVES GEARS 2) that realy wont shift consoles,a nd then theres halo reach, and as halo ODST showed it dosent move consoles like the ps3 exclusives NO WHERE NEAR NOT EVEN 1/4.

Billions? You seem to think the Entertainments division of MS is hugely profitable. Whilst its profitable now, if you count the losses of both X-box systems then they've still lost more money than they've gained since entering the console market and they're not making massive profits now. If anything Sony should be looking to Nintendo for how to improve profits. Last gen with the Gamecube nintendo made about as much profit as Sony with the PS2.
